Getting fit? You need the kit!

One of my new years resolutions is to get fit. I'm not unhealthy but I'm definitely not as active as I should be or once was. I also put on a few stone during pregnancy so I need to do everything I can to help shift those pounds. I love going on long family walks with Nick and Noah and we have recently become a bit more adventurous when it comes to our treks. We thankfully have a pram that is robust enough for our spontaneous trips, which is great because Noah loves being outdoors with us.

My newfound love for our family treks has made me realise how unprepared I am for them as I have nothing suitable to wear. For example today I was wearing a dress, leggings and Ugg boots on our walk around our local nature reserve. I was pushing Noah in his pram up and down steep hills, trying so hard not to slip over!

I have found some great outdoor pieces over on Blacks so I decided to put together an active wear wishlist. Perhaps Nick could treat me to a new parka for Mothers day? After all I don't need another a new handbag!

The main item I am missing from my outdoorsy wardrobe is suitable footwear. The Merrell Proterra Sport Gore-Tex Hiking boots would be perfect for our outings. Having worked in a shoe shop for a couple of years I have heard nothing but praise when it comes to Gore-Tex and sold a few pairs myself. They are suitable for warm and cold conditions alike as they allow your feet to breathe and are waterproof too. Complete with sturdy soles and a great grip they are perfect for our spontaneous walks, whether it be simply to the shop or a long trek in the woods.

Another piece my wardrobe is missing are sensible sandals as mine are all heeled, wedged or strappy. The Merrell Shudra Sandal would be great for Summer. With such a padded and supportive sole it would not only look great but be extremely comfortable too. Merrell describe this sandal as "soothing, simple and sophisticated and they couldn't be anymore correct. I love the mustard colour too.

The Merrell Hewes Toggle Sweater is also on my list. It wouldn't look out of place whilst shopping around on the high street or hiking around out in the outdoors. Light, fleecy and with a hood it would be perfect for the mixed weather we are having at the minute. I love the grey colour and the toggles add a touch of style.

Last but not least is the Montreal 3 in 1 Parka from Jack Wolfskin. I love a nice Parka but the Montreal is not only stylish but is ideal for the outdoors. It is waterproof on the outside with a warm fleece lining inner. Both layers can be worn together or separately depending on the temperature.

Do you have plans to become more active this year?

This is a PR collaboration.

  1. After being quite ill I'm making plans to get back to running and compete in a race again this year. I really need to get some new running shoes & clothes though...they're all a good 3 years old now lol.
Good luck with your fitness plans :) x
