Nausea, nausea, everywhere!

I'm currently 7 and a half weeks pregnant and this post will stay in my drafts until I've announced my pregnancy at 12 weeks. As I sit here and type I can't describe how sick I feel, it's overwhelming. I don't remember feeling this sick with Noah, just in the mornings but then it subsided for the rest of the day. This time around I wake up with it, it sticks with me for the entire day and the strangest of things can make it even worse. Though lemonade gives me some relief!

I aimed to be healthier in this pregnancy because when I was expecting Noah I put on over two stone. Two years later and I'd pretty much lost all that baby weight after a lot of hard work and changes but I can already see myself sliding into my bad habits.
Weight gain is all part in parcel with pregnancy of course and I know I will gain in this one, I just hope not as much. It's just this time around I wanted to make healthier decisions when it comes to food and to stick to Slimming World the best I can but with the nausea it's been near enough impossible. Most foods are currently turning my stomach and the only food my body seems to be able to hack is bread, crackers, crisps, sweets, lemonade and ice lollies. When you can't stomach most food you literally eat whatever you can manage but it's just typical that the stuff I'm able to eat is the stuff which isn't healthy.

I've also got to think how fortunate I am because I've not had morning sickness or hyperemesis gravidarum like some of my friends do so in comparison this is a walk in the park. It sure doesn't feel like it though especially when you can't open your fridge anymore without retching and even the sun shining too brightly on your face turns your stomach. I'm just hoping the nausea subsides once I get to second trimester!

Did you get nausea, morning sickness or hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnancy?

  1. I believe that advice is often eat little and often, as it can ease nausea. Also fluids required, so nice that you seem to be enjoying some lemonade. The brand shown above I find delicious and refreshing. Though at this stage you have not shared news of your pregnancy. It would seem your body is well aware of it. Apparently there are changes in pregnancy such as within the circulation etc. So likely your body is making use of the energy provided by the snacks you are eating.

Hope you later manage to enjoy your pregnancy as persistent nausea can be distracting. Yet your son will still expect his mum to be there for him, enjoying quality time together outdoors etc.

Best wishes, looking forward to your future blogs.

  2. You may find by drinking the lemonade product you show in your picture above :- That it is Beneficial from the aspect of containing lemon juice, as a good source of Vitamin C. Vitamin C we are told helps us absorb iron from the food that we eat. Though often nowadays we are generally advised to make use of natural sources. That may be more difficult when it comes to early pregnancy.

Hope you keep well. Noah is a Handsome Big Brother in Training. Noah seems to look grown up, having had his hair cut etc.

  6. It is normal to gain weight in pregnancy, as you say. You may find that you are more active this pregnancy, as you have an active youngster to provide Care for. Be kind to yourself, remember the normal aspects of pregnancy, enjoy family life. Children grow up so fast. Meanwhile there seems to be exercise classes for mums and babies, walking groups for mum, baby and buggy. So you may find that postnatally you have the opportunity to loose weight, tone muscles and build up a social network which can be supportive etc.

Best wishes. Do you plan to attend Antenatal classes this time, it can be helpful for parents / parents to be, as can build up new supportive friendships. Possible new friends for children etc, etc. Socially and Emotionally support network opportunities. Can share up to date information and experiences regarding toddler groups, nurserys, schools, play parks, family friendly establishments etc.

  14. I didn't suffer any sickness on Connor, I suffered it bad on Megan, like you it would linger all day and then it would ease at night just in time for the heart burn to kick in, I was lucky on Mollie and was only sick on a handful of occasions xxx
