Dreaming of Mauritius

I've said goodbye to Summer, as short as it was and I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that the colder months are on their way. I do love Autumn and Winter don't get me wrong. I adore wrapping up warm, going on a family walk and then coming home and sipping on a big mug of hot chocolate but my heart does belong to Summer.

A little bit of sun and warmth works wonders for me. It puts me in a good mood, it makes me feel energised and I just feel better on a whole. I'm already missing it, so much so that we've already started planning our next family holiday and are currently researching all the different places we'd like to visit.

One place I've always dreamed of travelling to is Mauritius. Mauritius is an island in the Indian Ocean, just off the cost of Africa. It's famous for it's crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and is a host to the most gorgeous landscapes of lagoons, reefs, rainforests, waterfalls and much more.

When I had my son I thought that my dream of visiting Mauritius would have to be put on hold until he'd flown the nest as initially I didn't think it would be a family friendly destination. I didn't think there would be much for children to do and the thought of a long haul flight with a child filled me with dread.

After a little bit of research I have however discovered quite the contrary as it's quite the opposite. Mauritius is full of family friendly activities and places to experience and visit. The Nature Parks in particular would be the perfect place for us to visit as a family. It would give us the chance to explore more of the island, see a whole range of different animals and even watch amazing aquatic animals such as Dolphins and Whales

Then when it comes to the flights I don't ever think it's as bad as we anticipate. Travelling with a young child doesn't have to be a stressful experience and dare I say it, can even be enjoyable. I've recently wrote a couple of blog posts about travelling with a toddler and how it can be made totally stress free if you are well prepared.

Do you have any dream destinations? I'd love to hear about them!

  2. Oh wow I am dreaming too! Those fishies I just want to dive in & swim with them, it looks so fabulous. I hope to make that dream into reality for my mum & I on my 40th birthday & stay in one of those sea huts.
