Cry Babies Katie Doll - Review

I really enjoy reviewing toys around this time of year. With it being so close to Christmas, not only do some of these review toys give me gift inspiration for other children in the family, but hopefully they'll give you some inspiration for your family too.

One of the latest toys we were sent to review was the new Cry Babies Katie doll. We were so excited to see what she'd be like as we'd seen the original Cry Babies on the TV and thought they looked like a great toy. Both kids always turn their heads to the TV when they hear the song on the advert, "Cry babies! Cry, cry, cry babies!" I knew they'd both love to get their hands on one.

When the doll arrived, she looked so cute in the box and we couldn't wait to get her out. We did have to wait until the morning so we could take some nice bright photo's for this review. I'd hidden the doll so that Noah wouldn't spot her and want to open her whilst it was dark, however the doll was on demo mode and would cry whenever we walked near her and I couldn't switch her off with her still being in the box. So, if you are buying this as a Christmas gift or you're trying to hide it from your little one then I'd recommend putting it in a room which is unused and perhaps with a towel over the box too. We don't want any spoilt Christmas presents!

Katie is just like the original Cry Babies dolls but new and improved with her new features and larger size. She's surprisingly big and is made from hard plastic which makes her quite heavy. Her arms and legs can be moved which means she isn't stuck in a sitting position. You can also lay her down flat. Included with the doll is a dummy, bottle and an adorable onesie and hat which are both removable. I like it when toys have clothes and accessories which can be removed as it gives another element to role play and some children can get frustrated when clothes are attached or stitched on.

Not only is Katie larger than her Cry Babies siblings but she has a couple of new features too. She drinks real water from her bottle, sucks her dummy, makes realistic baby sounds, cries real tears and is responsive to sound. If you remove her dummy she will make the sweetest of baby noises and when she cries you settle her by giving her the dummy or by holding her and giving her a cuddle.

Noah loved to take care of Katie by giving her a cuddle or by putting her dummy in her mouth. I suppose it's just like looking after his baby sister, who may I add is totally enamoured by Cry Baby Katie. I think she think's she's a real baby! Especially when she saw her drink water and cry!

Cry Babies Katie is a great doll to go for if your child is very attentive to their dolls as she requires lots of love and attention! She's so responsive and can cry, babble and giggle at so much which is just what you are looking for when you buy a Cry Babies doll. Cry Babies Katie Doll retails at £39.99 and is suitable from 18 months.

Do you have Cry Babies Katie on your Christmas list?

- We were sent this product for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.

  3. Can see what would attract the children's attention:- Katie seems a good size for them to handle, and her bright colouring is attractive. Her drinking water, crying and babbling would interest the children. Seems a toy which would hold their interest and attention for quite some time.

  4. I like all the different features on the Katie doll, but I can't get passed the fact that I find the face a little scary!
