5 Ways To Avoid Mood Swings During Pregnancy

Mood swings during pregnancy are common and are usually caused by hormonal changes, fatigue, metabolism changes and physical stress. If you are a currently pregnant, don’t worry or be too hard on yourself. It’s completely natural to feel this way. Here are a couple of tips and methods to avoid mood swings. I hope they helps you out.

1) Get plenty of sleep
Sleep is the root of all mood swings, or at least they stem from there. During pregnancy, a woman requires extra hours of sleep in the night. Taking short naps during the day also helps to keep you calm and comfortable throughout the day. Of course this is harder when you already have a child but do try to take it easy.

2) Do your favourite activity
Doing your favourite activities during the day helps to keep your mind fresh and engaged which helps reduce stress and frustration. Be it reading a book, playing your favourite bingo online, watching TV, listening to music. Enjoying your favourite activities will help you to reduce and prevent mood swings.

3) Pregnancy yoga
If you’ve never done yoga before, then pregnancy is the best time to start. Practicing yoga during pregnancy strengthens your body, provides peace of mind and prepares you for labour and birth. This is something I've dabbled in and out of for years, something I always go back to.

4) Eat well
Pregnant women are known for their sudden cravings for food. During both my pregnancies I craved big bowls of cereal with ice cold milk and orange. I also like to indulge in a cheeseburger or two, oops! I found that by maintaining a proper diet and eat healthy during my pregnancy time, made me feel much more energised. Here's a list of 13 foods which are highly nutritious and good for you during pregnancy.

5) Spend time with your partner
There cannot be a better therapy than spending some quality time with your partner during your special time. They are also great for venting to which helps release all that pent up frustration. It's nice to enjoy some one on one time before the baby arrives too.

  3. Seems worthwhile and proactive to be prepared by knowing what is best for maintaining good health and wellbeing during pregnancy. Lifestyles can be busy. A lot of women are in paid employment, some may be working shift work, long hours, etc. Sleep hygiene is important for us all. Pregnancy is a time of change/s. Physical, Emotional, Hormonal, Etc. Good to consider Emotions / Moods. Preparing for baby is an important task. Many people may focus on the bump / baby. Yet a holistic approach seems most appropriate. Self Care, and some Partner Support are important elements.

  4. Do Your Favourite Activity, seems like a good idea. Could aim for fun, entertainment, peace and quiet space in order to relax and read, etc. Looking after wellbeing in such a way, may release some endorphins (feel good hormones). What a great idea.

  5. Pregnancy Yoga, I'm wondering about the availability of classes. Yoga can be great for flexibility, and also relaxation. I have enjoyed some yoga classes some years ago. I believe there is a variety of forms / types. Unfortunately can't recall type I got opportunity to try. The classes ran locally for a couple of months.
