Noah - The End Of His First Year At School

Time flies when you're having fun, and when you have children. I suppose both of which go hand in hand. That's something that all parents grasp from the get-go, how fast the time seems to pass you by. That said, I thought that time would slow down a little when they get little older, but if anything it's going even faster.

Noah's first year at school, his Reception year has flown by in the blink of an eye. It's scary how fast it's gone. I was very emotional on his admission day when he got his first choice of school, on the eve of his first day at school, starting school and I'm just as much of a wreck now that he's finished his first year at school, Reception class. It's such a huge milestone in his life, and it's now over just like that.

Noah was very anxious about starting school, which is something he's struggled with since he was a baby. He's always felt anxiety when it comes to new places and being away from me. He knew that most of his friends from nursery were moving over to the same school with him, but he still struggled with the transition. For the first few weeks, he would cling to me, sometimes he would cry but he overcame it after some time, a lot faster than he did with his nursery transition.

As weeks and months went by I watched Noah blossom before my very eyes, in many different ways. Academically, he's at the levels that he should be, which for a boy who never sits still, who daydreams away into Noah-land, is really impressive. In the space of one year at school, he's learned to read, write, do basic maths, and much more. He's grown so much in himself, in his self-esteem and confidence. He's worked hard and has won a few awards over the year, the role model cup and medal, he's had lunchtime awards and star of the week.

His end of year report really made me smile because it was evident that they got to know him well. They noted how much of a people person he is, how he always strives to make new friendships and has many friends in class. They said that he's well mannered, kind and a joy to be around, which I think is something that all parents want to hear.

He'll be starting year 1 in a couple of weeks, but for now, here's to the summer holidays and all the adventures we have in store.

  1. Gosh, doesn't he look so grown up! What a wonderful year he's had though, they change so much in a school year don't they! It sounds like he's getting on really well. Hope you have a lovely summer. x

  4. Such a shame that children are experiencing anxiety, and that that anxiety is via Education system. Maybe Government, Teachers, Education Authorities, Campaigners, Child Protection, Mental Welfare Commission, Mental Health Charities, Etc, etc, etc NEED to take a close look / investigation into :- Education and Mental Health via Research. In order to provide " Best Practice" ! "Healthy Initiatives", " Rebuild Nurturing, Caring, Sharing, Communities", " Allow Each Individual To Reach,Their Potential, whilst ensuring Equality and Diversity and Encoraging Moral Behaviour.

Awaiting information regarding which primary school a little one has Authoratative Permission to attend must be a time which is stressful to some degree for a family. Yet it may impact on the young child :- How is that young child to be prepared, supported, etc :- When how much notice are they given in regards to which Primary School they have been Allowed to attend. Who will take them to school? Who will collect them from school? Will anyone they know from Nursery School be attending the same Primary School as them? Will anyone form their Community / street / family, etc, etc also be attending the same Primary School as them? What uniform will they need to wear? Etc, etc, etc. Lots of unknowns.

When it is known that it is Easier to deal with the known, than the Unknown / uncertain.

Is perhaps this behaviour / management / system negatively impacting on the Mental Health and Wellbeing of young children, their family, friends, community, etc?

Education :- What is the aim? What are our children being prepared for? What will the Future hold? What options / opportunities / choices will be available for our children ( who hopefully will grow up into adulthood, and may grow up into older adults). Just what will their futures be like??

Time does pass so, so quickly. Little ones can have fun, and being around them can be fun. I personally would hope that there is fun available for people of all ages. Happiness is important to our Wellbeing. Just where does that Happiness come from? Nice that Noah has had recognition for some aspects of his personality, culture, philosophy of life possibly :- His certificates, his awards. Will these continue throughout his life / lifetime?

    Learning is Lifelong after all.

Let's hope the children enjoy their Summer Holidays. As once they leave school it is unlikely that they will have such long Summer Holidays. Unless they become Teachers, etc, maybe being self - employed and they can choose their own Annual Leave. Though who knows what the Government may do in the future in regards to Equality and Diversity. As many ( probably the majority of the Public) have Summer Holidays of Two weeks.

Will there be a Fairer Society in the Future? Who Knows??

  8. It will not be long till :- Preparations for returning to school. Shops stocking school bags, school uniforms, stationery, etc. Noah may be building in confidence :- As on return to school, He will have some knows / certainties, maybe even a sense of security / stability. As familiar with school, getting to school, classmates, uniforms, etc, etc. Best Wishes! Enjoy the Summer school holidays, as they will pass. Good memories may last forever.

  10. Wondering if Noah has any ambitions or Dreams for his future. It was often a question in the past :- What Do You Want to Be when you are Grown Up? Technology, etc advances at such a fast rate. Just what will there be available for our children when they become adults. As from the media we have heard of mention of the possibility of self - driving cars for the future. Robots are presently made use of for a vast amount of tasks.

Unfortunately there is talk of targets and pressures within employment. Yet in the past we had thought and hoped for more leisure time ( rest. recuperation, recharging, re-energising, recovering, etc) being the result of the availability of computers, robot / robotics, etc.

Retail has recently undergone massive change /s. This it is said is due to the increase in On - Line Shopping. We are told that there is a housing crisis. This is not the first time. That has happened a number of times over the generations. The reasons, and any solutions may be different. There are Private Landlords, there are people with a portfolio of properties. How is it that there are homeless, overcrowding, etc. As these impact on Health and Wellbeing. Perhaps our new Prime Minister will tackle a variety of aspects. Aiming to Improve the Heslth and Wellbeing of the Nation.

Lifestyle Coach :- Perhaps that will be a popular means of employment in the future. Encouraging and possibly enabling us towards a well balanced healthy lifestyle.

  13. Time does go fast when children are growing up. My granddaughter will be starting Reception this September, and it seems like yesterday that my daughter was bringing her home from the hospital. I'm glad Noah's first year has gone so well, it sounds like he's learned not just academic subjects but also how to be more confident away from home.

  16. Looks like Noah may be in his school jumper. Possibly / Possibly not? Children do need to be Protected. That is why some families choose to ensure that personal and private information is kept protected. Just how that is done in such a global and technologically fast paced world? :- There is Parental Responsibility / Responsibilities. Though Parents surely also require support in regards to their Very Responsible Role.

Noah being in dark blue against a dark blue door :- Looks quite smart. Quite official. Sort of reminds me of Police standing at Number 10 Downing Street :- A Very, Very, Responsible Role. Noah looks the part. He looks smart, he holds himself well :- Has good posture. Body language oozing Confidence. Just what will he do when he becomes an adult :- Will he work for a living? Will he enter a Career? What opportunities might there be that are available / accessible / acceptable / achievable for him.? For now let us hope he and others can enjoy their childhood whilst being Cared for, Cared about, Protected and Valued by Parents and others. As we live within areas / domains / towns / counties / communities / houses / properties / council areas / work places. / schools / nurseries / community centres / etc, etc. As we go about our daily life we interact with others. The Police are employed to " Protect the Public". Prime Minister Boris Johnson has recently mentioned an increase in Police is to happen soon. Perhaps that has been because he believes that there is a need for such a service. Maybe in the future their role will be explained, as it may be that there is a need for further development within the Police service in order to improve service/s for the Public who fund this Public Service via taxation.

  17. I googled Police at Number ten, out of curiosity of my link / reminder when seeing Noah in the photo above :- With memories of seeing Police at door of Number 10 Downing Street, London, England, United Kingdom. We often see this on the news, etc.

On googling : - There I saw there was a video of Policeman knocking on door of Number 10, in order to gain access fo " Larry" the cat, who patiently sat at the door, likely hoping to be let in out of the rain. Nice to view, for all family members. Apparently Larry is a Rescue cat, which ex - Prime Minister left behind :- On leaving his post of Prime Minister. So, it seems that " Larry" has a " Home", rather than an owner. He ("Larry") perhaps enjoys the company of the many visitors that visit 'his home'. Larry seems so placid and friendly.

    1. Meant to say :- Ex - Prime Minister David Cameron left behind. As Internet stated David Cameron had got Larry from a Cat Rescue Centre when he was Prime Minister, and residing at Number 10 Downing Street. Though when he left the residence, he left Larry the cat behind.

  18. Thank - goodness it is Friday, we are at home. Raining outside, but we are now comfortably indoors, After being out for some necessities. I hope the weekend goes a bit slower, more Peaceful.

My own Mum would often say all she needed or wanted was ' a bit of Peace and Quiet'. Oh! How Right she is and was. In library today, trying to concentrate on task with computer. Children in for Summer Event, fine :- Used to this. As library often - frequently have Events for Children. Today, somehow two children playing around beside mum ( chatting to staff at library counter / desk). These two children :- Running around, throwing their toys into the air, screaming in excitement :- Meanwhile mum and library staff continue to chat, as if unaware that the children even exist. Maybe there is a need for :- Variety of library sessions. Return to adult library and children's library being separate walled areas / or on separate floors, etc. Sessions for those with Autism, ADHD, Deafness, etc. One deaf customer could not hear friend speaking to him :- Due to noise of these 2 children he stated. We share the planet. Wouldn't think it too difficult to share library. Courteous Behaviour would have been nice. But why wasn't the Parent and library staff encouraging these 2 children to behave courteously. Parent could have ended chat and taken children to the park nearby for a run around, etc. Parks are brand new :- Having recently been refurbished. Library :- Books for reading, etc. They have children related materials, events, etc. Screaming just seemed so, so inappropriate. Yet :- Mum ignored it. And it continued. Till she eventually left, and staff told her they would miss her ( was she their friend. I don't know). Her behaviour wasn't particularly friendly ( it seemed inconsiderate towards other library users, as well as her 2 children :- Whom she paid no attention to. Whilst chatting to 2 members of library staff). Gobsmacked at how some people behave nowadays :- Is it " Individualism"??

  19. Saw a new tv series recently. I think it was called :- Secret Teacher. Enlightening to see Businessman within the school as a support worker. The teachers were challenged due to Staff Shortage, Sickness Ansenve, Class sized double at times :- Which meant 60 pupils per class, boisterous behaviour at times between pupils, financial constraints, etc.

The Businessman was really undercover ( as turns out a bit like Undercover Boss). He later spoke about what he had learnt from the experience. As well as his plans to help financially by donating to school. Also he chose two pupils to assist with them achieving getting onwards to their chosen Career Paths. Good programme. Nice Philanthropy / Philanthropist by aiming to make a Positive Difference.
