Cheeky Wipes - Review

With it being Real Nappy Week I thought I would share our thoughts on Cheeky Wipes as they go hand in hand with cloth nappies, although they are just as handy is you are using disposables too!

Cheeky Wipes are reusable wipes that can be washed and reused, they are kind to your babies skin and saves you a lot of money too. We were sent the starter kit for the purpose of this review and I can’t tell you how excited I was to start using them.

The starter kit includes:

x25  cloth baby wipes and you can choose from white cotton terry, bamboo, rainbow bamboo or microfiber. I have a mix of bamboo and microfiber.

Fresh Baby Wipes container - for storing all those clean wipes ready for babies face, hands and bottom and whatever else you want to clean!

Mucky Baby Wipes container with mesh bag insert no need to touch soiled wipes with the fab mesh insert.

Waterproof travel bag for clean wipes so you can take your wipes out and about.

Waterproof travel bag for mucky wipes - with mesh bag insert when using cloth nappies I keep the soiled wipes inside the nappy ready for washing.

X2 bottles of 10ml essential oils – one for the fresh box and the other for mucky I chose lavender for fresh and tea tree for mucky.

Set of instructions - although everything is pretty self explanatory!

My thoughts:
Before using cloth nappies the thought of reusable wipes would of made me feel very uneasy but that was down to my own misconceptions. Some people think that both reusable nappies and wipes are disgusting and you will be touching poo but that is not the case, at all. You are not in contact with poo any more or any less than you are with disposables.

Thankfully I opened my eyes and heart to reusable nappies and wipes and I can't recommend them enough.

We transitioned easily from the use of disposable to reusable wipes. We use the coloured microfibre wipes for mucky hands and faces and simply wash those wipes in with our regular washing. We use the white bamboo wipes for bottoms only and they are washed with the nappies. It's good to keep them separated even though your washing machine sends them out as good as new every time.

The Pro's:
It's cheaper, you save a lot of money when you don't need to buy dozens of packets of disposable wipes every month. It's also better for the environment and for your babies bottom too.

If you keep on top of your washing like us mothers have to do then you will never run out of wipes and that means no late night rushes to the shops.

If you use cloth nappies you can simply keep the soiled wipes in the nappy bin ready for the wash. No need to use the mucky box.

They clean so much more effectively than a disposable wipe! I use one Cheeky Wipe to clean Noah's face, hands and high chair tray after he's eaten where as I would of had to use 4 or 5 disposables!

The same can be said when it comes to very messy poo's! The most I have had to use is 2 Cheeky Wipes where I've been known to use around 10 disposables ones.

No more dry wipes! Your Cheeky Wipes sit in their container filled with water and essential oil, ready for use.

The Con's:
The bamboo wipes can become a little rough if you don't have a dryer. I put them in with my regular washing on a low setting and they come out as good as new. If you don't have a dryer you can avoid this problem by not drying the wipes at all and placing them into your tub wet.

From time to time I do prefer to take disposable wipes out and about with me as they are easier when on the go.

We don't use the mucky box because we simply throw the dirty bottom nappies into our cloth nappy bin and throw the hands and face wipes straight into the washing machine. So this piece of kit is wasted on us but I know that's not the case for everyone.

The Cheeky Wipes Starter Kit which I reviewed can be bought directly from Amazon for £40.97 but there is also a Cheeky Wipes Mini Kit priced at £26.95 too, both of which are bargains in my eyes! Think of the money that you can save.

Have you ever thought about using washable wipes? Do you have any questions about them?

Project 365 - Week 16 - 16/52

I cannot believe how fast these weeks are flying by. The weather this week has been good but not as warm as last week. We've had another busy week and made some fantastic memories.

12th April - 18th April / Week 16

102
Spot the cat, spot the baby!

103
On Monday we both slept through out alarm and was late for playgroup, oops! We managed to catch the last hour and then went to soft play too. It was a great day.

104
Another day, another walk. This has to be one of my favourite photo's of Noah. He looks so so cheeky.

105
Noah now has 3 molars coming through all at once and so far he hasn't complained. I love this shot of his pearly whites.

106
Thursday it was Noah's Great Nan's 80th birthday and it was a wonderful night. We ate at a Michelin Star restaurant (for free!) and had plenty of wine too. It was lovely celebrating in this special way for possibly the most incredible person in the world. We didn't get home until after 10 pm and Noah was good as gold the whole night. As soon as we got home he went straight to bed without a fuss.

107
I received some very exciting fluffy mail from Totsbots on Friday! Perfect timing for Real Nappy Week!

108
Saturday we spent the afternoon at the seaside. It was a lovely warm day but there was a cool breeze. This was the first time Noah had been on sand and he really wasn't a fan of it. He would hold his legs up in the air so then I wouldn't stand him up on it and he clung to me like a bat, it was really cute. Once I put his shoes on he was fine walking about, he just wasn't a fan of the texture on his feet. I love his little quirks.

Divergent, an 80th Birthday and Michelin Stars - 16/52 - #littleloves

Another week, another little loves! I can't believe we are at week 16 already! 16 weeks into 2015! Madness.

Read
I gave up reading the book I mentioned last week, not by a fault of it's own but because I bought the Divergent Series. After watching the film last weekend I just had to buy the books! I've just started reading the first installment and I'm only a few chapters in.

Watched
As I mentioned above I finally got round to watching Divergent and I really, really enjoyed it. It was a bit cheesy in places but it was great.

I also watched the very last episode of Justified. As a rule I am never really happy with finale's. I think they are so hard to get right and it's impossible to please everyone but Justified's ending was pretty much perfect. Justified isn't a very well known TV show in this country but I couldn't recommend it enough.

Wore
I would like to say I've worn something really trendy this week but I haven't! I've mainly been in leggings with my hair in a bun! Maybe when I have lost a bit of weight I might start dressing a little better, ha ha.

Noah on the other hand dressed very suave for a party we attended this week!

Heard
"We dug coal together." The final quote in one of my favourite shows, another nod to Justified. It's an end of an era!

Made
Again lots of home cooked and Slimming World friendly meals such as Chilli, Spaghetti Bolognese, Roast Dinner, Pasta etc etc. Nothing terribly exciting.

And lastly
It was Noah's Great Nan's 80th birthday on Friday so on Thursday we went out for a meal to celebrate the occasion. We ended up going to a Michelin Star restaurant and I sampled some of the most incredible and the strangest food I have ever tasted! I also had a full bottle of Pinot Grigo too so it's safe to say that I totally went off plan when it came to Slimming World! Worth it though!

Slimming World - Week 2

Two weeks ago I started Slimming World again, for the second time. In case you missed it, I blogged about it here. I miraculously lost 4lb on my first weigh in and I say miraculously because I did have a few dozen blibs, a takeaway, chocolate, crisps and so on. I think I only lost so much because it was my first week and I am so kicking myself that I had those naughty treats because I could of lost more. Oh well, 4lb is 4lb!

Week 2

I feel like I have been more strict with myself and have had a lot more willpower. That doesn't mean I haven't gone off plan slightly on some nights but I have reigned it in a lot.

I haven't taken photo's of most meals like I did the last week. It would get a little tedious after a while because what I eat doesn't change that often but I thought I would share a photo of my favourite meal of the week.

Chilli and Tomato pasta with Pork and Beef Meatballs

Ingredients:

Pasatta
Chopped tomatoes
Onion
Garlic
Slimming World meatballs

Pasta
Chilli Flavour Pot

Mixed herbs
Pepper
Frylight

Instructions:

Place the frozen Slimming World Meatballs into the oven. Whilst they cook chop your onions and garlic and fry in Frylight. Once they have browned add the pasatta, chopped tomatoes and Knorr Chilli Flavour Pot. Season to taste with the mixed herbs and pepper.

Cook the pasta on the hob whilst your sauce simmers away. If you time it well your meatballs will be ready at the same time as your pasta and you simply just have to mix it all together! Voila!

The Weigh In

I lost 2lb!

This morning I stepped on the scales and was delighted to see I had made a loss again. That means I have a further 44lb's to go but if I keep chipping away at it like I have been doing I am sure I can do it. I just need to keep my motivation and moral up and hopefully this time around I will stick to it!

OXO Tot Toddler Feeding Set - Review

I have quite the addiction for toddler cutlery and crockery and have a cupboard full to the brim of different brands and styles of cups, plates, bowls, forks, spoons. You name it I probably have it but one brand that I hadn't tried was OXO Tot.

I was recently asked if I would like to select something from the OXO Tot website to review on the blog. I only had to browse the site for a moment until I set eyes on the Toddler Feeding Set, it looked brilliant and I knew I had to have it.

This four piece set includes; a plate with removable training ring, bowl with removable lid, fork and spoon.

What we like

The plate transforms as your child grows. The training ring can be removed once your toddler is a little more savvy when it comes to the spoon. This is great because it's not only easier for your toddler to feed themselves but also makes meal time less messy.

The non slip base on both the plate and bowl is a fantastic feature which I haven't found on many other brands.

The handles on the spoon and fork also have a non slip grip which makes it easier for little hands to hold.

The quality of the entire set is far superior to any other brands that we have tried.
BPA, phthalate and PVC free. The bowl and plate can are microwaveable and the whole set is dishwasher friendly.

The set is available in green, pink and aqua.

What they could change

It would of been better to of had a toddler knife in the set. I know toddlers won't use them for a while and they are very blunt but it's good to start practicing early and I want him to be introduced to the correct cutlery. It's also a bit of a shame not to have a the full matching set for when he is a little older too. That is my only niggle.

The OXO Tot 4-Piece Feeding Set is priced at £16.00 and I think that is a very fair price for the quality and longevity of this product. A must for all toddlers!

- I was sent this product for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
