Ella's Kitchen Toddler Snacks - Review

To celebrate the new single pack range of snacks we were recent sent some samples, say hello to Ella's Kitchen's yummy toddler snacks now in single packs! There are now four additions to Ella's Kitchen's healthy and organic snacking range, now available in handy single packs which are perfect for toddlers on the go.

Brand new raspberry + peaches crunchy rings join parsnips + poppy seeds savoury biccies, cheese + leeks crunchy wheels and carrot + lentil crunchy sticks - all of which were already available in their existing snacking range but are now available in handy on the go bags.

The single packs are ideal for picnics, shopping trips, car journeys, holidays, nursery or even just to snack on at home. All Ella's Kitchen products contain no added or refined sugar or salt, no concentrates and no additives or colourings and their snacking range is an adventurous mix of unique taste combinations, as well as bright, eye catching packets designed to feed not just their bellies but their imaginations too!

Noah can be rather picky with his snacks sometimes so I was a bit apprehensive when offering the samples we received however I didn't need to be. All four varieties were a hit, the parsnip + poppy seed savoury biscuits in particular! (I tried one too and they were delicious!)

The entire Ella's Kitchen range is now available in stores and online with an RRP of £0.59-£1.99. You can find the brand new single packs at Asda, Boots and Tesco for 59p.

Ella's Kitchen Superhero Range - Review

Ella's Kitchen recently expanded their fantastic range by introducing us all to their brand new range of superhero themed snacks. Though primarily aimed at 3-5 year olds I accepted the offer to review them as I knew that Noah would get a long with them fine.

Let's start with the Smooshy Snacks! Ella's Kitchen are famous for their little pouches of scrummy goodness and although you may recognise these they are a little bit different! Representing one of your child's five a day the four varieties of smoothies feature not only a fruit ingredient but a vegetable one too! Aimed to show the older kids just how cool veggies are!

The four flavours are; orange and carrot, apple and cucumber, strawberry and beetroot and orange and pumpkin. All of which contain organic produce and no preservatives. Noah has already sampled one of each and they've all been a big hit with him, especially the orange and carrot flavour. A multipack of 4 Smooshy Snacks cost £3.49 which I think is reasonable.

Next up we have the Fruity Bars which are just that, fruit bars! They come in a selection of three different flavours; banana and raisin, pineapple and coconut and raspberry and mango. A box of 5 Fruity Bars costs £2.50.

Not only are the fruit bars healthy and tasty but they also contain no nasties. Each bar is simply made from fruit, crisped rice, oats, barley and flaxseeds. Noah has always enjoyed his fruit and I knew that he would enjoy these too and he has. They are great for after dinner treats or as a snack and even better for packing in your handbag when out and about.

I can safely say that both Noah and I are very impressed with the new range from Ella's Kitchen. We love the different flavour combinations and adore the cast of superhero cartoon characters which adorn all the packing.

Ella's remain one of our favourite brands and the fact that they have now create snacks for older children makes me happy because now I know I can continue to buy them as Noah is getting older. Yippee!

Have you tried the new range yet?

Stand up for good snacks with Ella's Kitchen

Ella's Kitchen is possibly the most well known and loved brand when it comes to baby food and snacks. If you haven't heard of Ella's before then you must of been living under a rock for the past 8 years. They specialise in making tasty, healthy and 100% organic food for not just babies but toddlers and children too.

Ella's Kitchen want to change the way our children snack and are doing so by offering up a new and exciting range of goodies that not just taste delicious and healthy too. Each type of snack contains no added refined sugar or salt, no concentrates and no additives which is what all parents want.

We were asked if we wanted to take part in Ella's Kitchen's Good Snacking Revolution and being the fans that we are we jumped straight on board. To get the wheels on our snacking revolution rolling we were sent their new range for Noah to try out. This new range is perfect for him age wise as it is specifically designed for toddlers and children up to 6 years of age.

So here is what we thought:

First we have the range of multigrain nibbles which come in 4 different flavours; stawberries and banana, carrot and cumin, apples and cinnamon and tomatoes and basil. A great choice of snack as they contain 4 different wholegrains which is not just fabulous for filling up our hungry offspring but is a good source of energy, essential for digestion and can also encourage sleep too!

At first glance they reminded me of cereal so the thought of the savory flavours was a little strange to me but I did think it was a refreshing idea. It took a while for Noah to get used to the taste and texture of the multigrain nibbles and although they aren't his favourite out of the range he does like them and will eat them.

Next up we have the cookies which come in two flavours; oat and spelt and raisins and spelt. For those that don't know spelt is a special type of flour which is lower in calories and higher in protein compared to regular flour which makes it a good choice for an ingredient base in a snack that is designed for our little ones.

I knew the cookies would be a hit before even opening the packet because who doesn't love a nice cookie? The cookies are shaped into very cute sun and cloud shapes which I thought was a nice touch. Although Noah only has his two bottom teeth you would be surprised by how many cookies he can get through.

Noah certainly takes after his Mummy when it comes to his love of savory snacks and crunchy crisps so I was very excited for Noah to try the new multigrain wheels and sticks.

The wheels come in a different and very yummy cheddar and leeks flavour and Noah snaffled half the bag in one sitting. The carrots and lentils sticks were just as much as a hit and I think they were his favourite out of the two.

Last but certainly not least are the amazing cracker bites which come in two flavours; parsnips and poppy seeds and tomatoes and fennel seeds. The cracker bites are a tasty, nutritious, filling and handy snack to reach for when our little one's bellies are rumbling.

I am always trying to add more fibre into Noah's diet so these cracker bites are ideal for me and Noah absolutely loves them too. In particular the tomatoes and fennel seeds flavour is divine. I sampled some of them and I could of easily eaten the whole bag, they were simply delicious.

After sampling the new range all I can say is wow, they've done it again. Ella's Kitchen never fail to impress and Noah and I are certainly on board on this new Snacking Revolution! #standupforgoodsnacks

What's in my changing bag. Part 2

When Kiddicare contacted me asking if I would like to team up with them on a changing bag project they are running I was very excited to do so. I'm a self confessed nosey parker so there's no wonder why I enjoy reading those "What's in my handbag" or "What's in my changing bag" blog posts so much. A couple of months back I wrote all about the contents of my own changing bag (see here) and I really enjoyed blogging about it. Now that Noah is almost six months old (in 4 days time!) I have found that what I pack now is very different to what I packed two months ago.

Here is what you will find in my changing bag;

Bottles - I NEVER leave the house without a bottle! Even if you are popping out for 5 minutes, the chances are if you don't pack one then your baby is going to want a feed. If we are out for the day I tend to pack three or four 6oz bottles of boiled water to use as and when Noah wants them.

Milk Dispenser - The milk dispenser holds 3 measures of 3 feeds. Which is ideal for popping into your changing bag when you are on the go. You simply pour the section of formula into the cooled boiled water when your baby wants a feed.

Thermal Bottle Bag - To keep one bottle of water as warm as possible.

Food Pouch - We are weaning Noah and he absolutely loves his food. I try to make the majority of his meals from scratch but find premade pouches are a godsend when out and about.

Dish and Spoon - For his food of course.

Snack - I sometimes pack a banana to mash up for Noah as a snack or a pudding after his tea. Banana's are his favourite but I am trying to limit them at the minute cause they tend to make him a little constipated.

Dummy and Dummy Wipes - Noah has a dummy for nap time and bed time. I always make sure I pack a spare dummy and a pack of dummy wipes.

Nappies and Wipes - Pretty obvious! I try to pack a full pack of wipes each time as Noah has a tendency to have multiple "poocidents" on days outs!

Lotions and Potions - I always make sure I am carrying a pot of Sudocrem and a tube of Bonjela. My changing bag staples.

Teething Rings - He is teething but dealing with it really well. He always has something in his mouth to gnaw on and he is just starting to understand what teething rings are for.

Change of clothes/PJ's - A change of clothes is vital for your changing bag, one of the items I wouldn't leave without packing. His nappy could leak, he could be sick all down himself, he could be a bit messy at tea time. You need that spare change of clothes. I usually don't need it but I can guarantee the day I don't pack it, I will need it! I usually just pack a babygrow as not only can it be used as a quick change of clothes but it can be used as PJ's too. Sometimes if we end up visiting family and stay a bit longer than planned I will dress him in his PJ's before we set off home. I do this to prevent disturbing him if he has fallen asleep or is really crammed on the way home.

Bibs - Noah is currently teething and being weaned so I now need to pack numerous bibs. Dribble bibs, bandana bibs, feeding bibs, velcro bibs.. you name it, I pack it. If he isn't soaking a bib through with drool within the hour he is slopping his dinner down it instead. We go through so many bibs in one day.

JacketIt's a bit hit and miss is the weather lately so if he isn't wearing a jacket when we leave the house I will make sure I pack one.

Blanket -  Again with the weather changing on a daily basis I tend to pack a blanket just in case. I used to just pop one over him when in his pram but on the warmer days he doesn't need one. It's always best to have a lightweight one just in case.

Comforter - I can't leave the house without one of Noah's many comforters. I think he would be okay without it but having one on hand helps soothe him and settle him when he is ready for a nap.

Toys - Now that Noah is older he is harder to keep stimulated and entertained. He is really into his toys at the minute and where as I used to only need to pack one or two to keep him occupied I now need to pack half a dozen. I have half a toy store in my bag!

What are your changing bag essentials?

Review: Ella's Kitchen Pouches & Digital Weaning Guide

If you read the blog regularly you will be aware than I have begun weaning Noah and he has taken to his first tastes like a duck to water. He simply can't get enough. I love to make homemade puree's for him but premade pouches are ideal for when we are out and about.

One of my favourite brands when it comes to baby food has got to be Ella's Kitchen. First of all I absolutely adore the logo, branding and how they market their products. Not only do they appeal to our young ones but also appeal to us as parents. Even more so all Ella's Kitchen food products are tasty, natural and 100% organic too. They contain nothing artificial and no bulking agents.

Ella's Kitchen kindly sent us a few pouches for Noah to try out; Carrots Carrots Carrots, Prunes Prunes Prunes, Peaches Peaches Peaches and Parsnips Parsnips Parsnips along with a Teeny Weeny weaning spoon especially for Noah to use on his weaning journey.

Carrots Carrots Carrots-  82% carrots, 18% water. 100% organic carrots, cooked in water. Noah enjoyed his Ella's Kitchen carrots. I tasted it myself and found it a little bland perhaps the water dilutes the taste. It might sound weird that I taste what I am going to feed Noah but I wouldn't feed him anything that tasted strange or foul.

Prunes Prunes Prunes- 100% organic prunes, nothing else. It took a few mouthfuls for him to make his mind up about the prunes but he ended up loving it. I thought it was great too! I liked how it was just 100% prunes and nothing else added.

Peaches Peaches Peaches- 100% organic peaches. Peaches Peaches Peaches was Noah's favourite and it tasted and smelt amazing. I know that first hand cause I tried it too!

Parsnips Parsnips Parsnips- 75% parsnips, 25% water. 100% orangic parsnips. Noah was a bit more fussy when it came to this one but after a few mouthfuls he got used to the distinctive taste that parsnips have. I also tasted this one too and it was good, I was really impressed. I could of eaten it myself.

When looking at all the products on the baby food eilse in our local supermarkets the first thing I notice is the lack of savoury flavours when it comes to first taste pouches, jars or tins. Ella's Kitchen receive kudos from me as they are one of the only brands that offer just as many savoury tastes as sweet.

Ella's Kitchen have created an innovative digital weaning guide which is a god send to new parents. As I have just begun weaning Noah I couldn't wait to give it a go. The weaning guide is a handy helper that has been created to take the stress out of weaning and put the fun back into mealtimes. It can be accessed on your PC, laptop, tablet of smart phone which is brilliant and very convenient. The guide helps you with; how to's, do's and don't, top tips and food fun. If you have already started your weaning journey it isn't too late as the digital weaning guide has three stages so you could go straight to stage two if need be.

I found Ella's Kitchen Weaning Guide to not only be very informative but interesting and entertaining too. All you need to do to get your own free digital weaning guide is pop over to the website, sign up and become a friend, easy!
