I often hear comments from people exclaiming how many photo's that I take. If you follow any of my social media channels then you will know it's no understatement because there isn't a day that goes by where I don't take half a dozen photo's or so. Whether these images are taken on my phone or DSLR I always have a camera within my reach, ready to catch every ordinary or extraordinary moment.
Noah is now just 15 months old and I probably have close to 5,000 photo's of him stored on my computer. Some people may think it's a bit excessive or even obsessive but for me photographs are so very important.
I have documented every single moment of pregnancy, babyhood and toddlerhood. I have images and video's of his first smile, first word and first steps so it certainly pays to have your camera within you reach as those memories are then documented forever.
At the moment all my images, videos and sound clips are all stored on my old laptop. It's currently running out of space and sometimes shut's down involuntary too. In the back of my mind I am always worried that my laptop won't turn on in the morning, that the files will corrupt, that I will loose all our documents. The thought of loosing all those memories caught on camera literally makes my mouth dry and my heart miss a beat. The thought terrifys me.
With this in mind I have been looking at alternative and more secure ways of backing up my data. In the past we have used discs, pen drives and external hardrives but I do find them to be a hassle and I want to use something more efficient. My search brought me to cloud hosting, a place where I would be able to store everything I need online, in one place. There are many benefits from using cloud and it's not just great for personal needs but ideal for business needs too.
Are you obsessed with taking photo's? How do you backup your files?
