Monin Syrup

If like me you like your coffee's sweet then Monin Syrup could be just for you. I love a Vanilla Latte so when the guys at The Coffee Shop Co sent me two bottles of Monin Syrup for the purpose of this review I couldn't wait to brew up!

If you are a little bored of just sweetening your coffee with your standard sugar then trying out a flavoured syrup is a good place to start. Not only does it enhance your cuppa but it can also healthier than using sugar as you use less. There are multiple flavours such as Vanilla, Caramel, Cinnamon, Gingerbread and Hazelnut and more.

Monin is a company famous for producing the highest quality gourmet syrup. Made from 100% sugar and natural ingredients from fruits, flowers, nuts and spices. With a choice of over 100 different syrups to choose from there is a flavour out there for everyone.

Not only is Monin used in hot beverages but it can also be added into alcohol to make your favourite cocktails! Cheers!

I had tried Monin before but having them on hand at home was a whole new different experience! It was fabulous as I was able to make my own flavoured latte's in the comfort of my own home. I experimented with the syrups and made a caramel hot chocolate and a vanilla caramel latte. Delicious! Although I am yet to try them in a cocktail. That leaves something to look forward to!

The Coffee Shop Co sell the miniature bottles here.
You can buy a single bottle for as little as £1.45 or indulge in a set of syrups for just £6.49! I think it would make an ideal gift for any coffee/cocktail lover out there!

Make Up and Skincare Tag

I stumbled across this post over on Nicola's lovely blog:
"Nicola.. Life Through My Eyes!"
and decided to do it myself as it seemed like a bit of fun. I didn't realise I loved make up so much!

What foundation do you use?
For day time I use Dream Matte Mousse. Night time I use MAC Studio Fix.

How about concealer?
Touche eclat.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I love them but I have long lashes naturally so sometimes they can look a bit too much on me. The natural looking ones I can get away with but I think that if you invest in a decent mascara you don't particularly need them.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
I do! I'm normally onto a new bottle by 2 months anyway (used up or dried out.) I am a mascara addict as you can tell from the next question!

What brand of mascara do you use?
I love my mascara's so I have quite the collection. My favourite has got to be Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara. Followed by Dita Von Teese Art Deco. I like MAC Zoom Lash for nightwear which probably isn't worth the price as it can apply too thick and clumpy. Sheercover Extra Length Mascara is also a goodie.

Sephora or MAC?
Not tried Sephora but I do love MAC. Especially for powder, foundation and blusher.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
I wish.

What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
Foundation brush, powder brush, blusher bush, eyebrow brush, lip liner brush (for eyeliner, works a treat!)

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
I always start off with a moisturiser base. Not always with a primer.

What is your favourite eyeshadow (colour or shade)?
Black! MAC paintpots are brilliant and last forever. Not literally!

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use pencil but then I smooth it out with my lip liner brush so it gives you smoother edges and it's easier
to create the flicks at the side. Easier to use that a liquid brush and can cover mistakes easily. Seriously, try it!

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Not very often. Touch wood.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I lav it!

Do you use mineral makeup?
Mineral foundations just doesn't work for me and the powders are so so.

What is your favourite lipstick?
I don't wear much lipstick but I love Dior lipsticks and do treat myself to time to time. For everyday wear GOSH soft n shine is gorgeous. It comes in all sorts of colours but not only does it apply like a dream but it also conditions your lips.

How about lipgloss?
No! Just no. Never have never will. Don't think long hair and lip gloss go well together. A bit of vaseline over lipstick is as close to glossy as I will go!

What is your favourite blush to use?
MAC Fleur Power Satin. A little goes a long way with it and it has lasted yonks! Worth paying a little bit extra for MAC products cause you don't just get quality it lasts for ages too. An investment I am always telling myself!

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Not drugstores own brands but I will buy Maybelline or Max Factor from there.

Do you go to CCOs? (Cosmetic Company Outlets)
Nope? Eh.

Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?
No I haven't. I have with nails though.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Big black eyebrows! Or light blue eyeshadow? Tough one.

Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
It depends. I tend to only wear metallics, black, browns, neutral on my eyes but will wear red or pink on my lips from time to time.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
Nicole Scherzinger. Love her smoky eyed sultry look.

If you could leave the house using just one make up item, what would you use?

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Nope. Not without a little bit.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I look horrendous. Like a different person.

In your opinion, what is the best makeup line?

What do you think of Makeup?
I love it!

How many times do you wash your face daily?
Three times. In the morning. When I get home for work to wipe off all my make up. Then again at night!

What skin type do you have?
Combination. It can be dry and oily at the same time. It's very frustrating.

What is your current facial wash?
I use Nourish - Protect. Which is for dry skin. It's a milk cleanser which gently cleans but also soothes.

Do you exfoliate?
I do but not as often as I should! I don't do it daily.

What moisturiser do you use?
I use a whole range of different moisturisers but the main one I use is Dear John by Benefit.

Do you have freckles?

Do you use eye cream?

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Not really but sometimes I can have a little flare up of blemishes.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Yes. I don't think it is worth the cost.

WWF - Remember to donate

There is nothing in the world I feel more passionate about than animals and their welfare. There is nothing more satisfying for me than donating. If you do one thing today donate to an animal charity.

I adopted a polar bear and money goes out my bank every month. You can also donate a one off payment or even adopt an animal as a gift for a present for a fellow animal lover. In a world where many people don't care about wildlife anymore it takes people like us to dig deep or just donate what we can.

Alpro - Enjoy Plant Power

I had not tried Alpro before so when they offered to send me some of their products to taste and review I was excited to try them out!

Alpro is a healthy choice which is not only good for you but good for the environment as Soya drinks use 2.5 times less water to produce than milk, 3 times less land and creates 5 times less CO2!

Not only that but Alpro was one of the first Europeon food company to join the WWF Climate savers, committing them to cutting down CO2!

Alpro has three alternates for milk which are soya, almond milk and hazelnut. All are packed with delicious plant goodness.
They were kind enough to send a bottle of both Hazelnut Drink & Almond Milk to review on my blog.

The Hazelnut and Almond milk is a great alternative for milk. You don't have to be vegan or lactose intolerant to enjoy milk alternatives. They can be just as tasty if not more!

I enjoyed the hazelnut drink on it's own with ice which was a nice refreshing and filling drink.
I also liked the almond milk so much that I will be swapping my morning milk in my cereal to almond milk for the foreseeable future. You have to try it!

Thumbs up from me!

11 Questions from Letters on a Postcard:

What inspires you to start following a blog?
Numerous things! Mainly if the blog stands out, if we have similar interests and most importantly if the posts interest me!

Who is the one person in the world you could not live without?
My other half! I don't realise how much he does for me and how much I rely on him. I think I'd be lost without him!

What is your go to comfort food?
Do I have to chose just one?! That is torture!
If it's just the one then it has to be crisps! I seriously think I could live off them! It's got to be Walkers though.

Are you living the life you want, are you content?
I am happy with most aspects of my life but there are things I would like to change! I would love to go back to University or study a trade.
I want to get a mortgage and get out of the renting trap. I want to get married. I want to learn to drive and I want to start a family! Lots of wants!

Who is the most inspirational person in your life?
My Mum! Stereotypical answer but she really is. I grew up with two loving parents even though they both separated while my siblings and I were young. My Mum was a full time working Mother with three kids my entire childhood (and still is) and even though she would be better off not working she did work and she worked hard! When I came to the age when I could work myself she wouldn't even take board off me even though she was still struggling! She is incredible.

Where is your dream vacation?
I love America so a road trip across the States would be amazing! Although I don't think I would want to come back.

What was the highlight of 2012 for you?
I was lucky enough to win £1000 of Thomas Cook vouchers in 2012! So I booked a holiday to Alcudia in Majorca and stayed at a 4 star hotel, all inclusive for 10 days.
It was my favourite holiday yet and it was all free. It was paradise.

Is there a single moment when you have been really proud of yourself, such as a graduation, having a baby, passing your driving test etc.
I was a rebel without a cause when I was a teenager and really messed up with my schooling. I didn't think I would be able to educate myself further and that was it. When I did my National Diploma at college and passed I was extremely proud of myself. So when you think there is no hope left you can always get yourself back on track!

If you could re-live your teenage years, knowing what you know now, would you?
I wouldn't of grown up so fast. Kids grow up too soon these days. You have all your adult life to be responsible, enjoy being a kid while you can! I was 16 going on 30. I thought I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. Little did I know!

Name one interesting fact about your personality.
I have the most warped sense of humour. It's a little dry, sarcastic, silly and crude! Some people say it's a mans sense of humour! Although it's a good thing cause I can make light out of awkward situations with my daft jokes.

If you could do anything in the world right now, no expense spared, what would you do?
Travel the world!

11 Questions from Chic Geek Diary:

1. What is an embarrasing fact about you?
2. What was the first film you saw at the cinema?
3. What is your weakness?
4. What one food you couldn't live without?

6. What is your pet peeve?
7. What is your dream vacation?
8. What blog posts do you enjoy reading the most?
9. Who could you not live without?
10. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
11. If you could change one thing in your life what would it be?

Who I have nominated:

Growers Cup

When the lovely folk at The Coffee Shop Co offered to send me some of their products to review on my blog I simply jumped at the chance! Being a self confessed caffeine addict there is nothing I would like to try out more than coffee! I cannot get enough of the stuff!

First on my review hit list is Growers Cup.
I had never heard of Growers Cup before and at first glance thought they were filters for a machine. Safe to say when I realised they were disposable coffee brewers I was very impressed!

"The Coffeebrewer is basically a hybrid between a filter dripmaker and a French Press. The design of The Coffeebrewer enables a perfect extraction as the volume of the pouch allows the hot water to interact with the coffee grounds and extract the aroma. The filter is designed to preserve all natural oils and flavours in the coffee. Therefore – a richer taste!"

Not only is this coffee Fairtrade and Ecological it also lets you have gourmet coffee on the go! No need to endure cheap swill coffee anymore you can simply whip a Growers Cup out of your handbag and Voila! Freshly brewed, quality coffee! As long as you have access to hot water of course!

Here is how it works:

1. Open
OPEN the top from side to side
PULL OUT the red string
SHAPE the bottom to make it stand

2. Brew
POUR in ½ L of hot water
CLOSE zipper in the top
BREW for 5—6 min

3. Serve
SERVE as illustrated
ENJOY 0,5 liter of gourmet coffee!

You can buy it from The Coffee Shop Co here

Kleenex Care Pack

I have been smothered with the flu most of this season so when Kleenex offered to send me one of their Kleenex Care Packs I was overjoyed! I was ready for some Kleenex TLC!

When the little parcel arrived I couldn't wait to unwrap it and see what was inside. Inside I found everything you need when feeling under the weather.

The contents included a thermal mug, packs of Kleenex, hot chocolate, tomato soup, herbal tea, honey sticks, Kleenex balm, a Yankee candle and even some thermal socks!
Straight away I treated myself to some herbal tea with a drizzle of honey, popped the socks on, lit the candle and I was already felt better and feeling ready to face the day!

Thank you Kleenex!

I love 3D

I never thought I would ever say this but I think I have fallen in love with 3D!

I'm a big movie nerd but never understood the fascination with going to see 3D films at the cinema. Whenever I saw a 3D film at the cinema I couldn't see it properly, could see shadows, it was too gimmicky, the glasses were rubbish and I would leave with a headache. As you can tell I thought 3D was totally over hyped and not worth the money.

Safe to say when my other half decided to buy a 3D TV I wasn't overly impressed. At the end of the day it was his money so I thought let the boy be a boy and let him buy his toy!

When I got in from work he told me to sit down and began to show me all the features and benefits. I tried to be enthusiastic because he loves his gadgets but again I wasn't overly impressed. I'm a hard sell!

That was until he put on Titanic in 3D!!

That film is simply made for 3D. A classic film like Titanic blows your socks off anyway but in 3D I was even more enthralled by the story. I got goosebumps and cried even more than before! It was simply incredible!

I don't know if 3D TV is better at home because I am still not sold on the whole 3D cinema experience but the 3D TV and Titanic 3D has a big thumbs up from me!

So to all men out there; if you want to justify your splurge on a 3D TV to your better half then simply purchase Titanic 3D and you will be back in the good books in no time! If that doesn't work then good luck ;)

Dishmatic Review

"Ditch the dishwasher in favour of Dishmatic, the natural answer to washing up!"

If like me you are concious about the environment but still want your dishes clean as a whistle then Dishmatic is the one for you!

Dishmatic is a nifty little device that is made from a hollow handle and sponge scourer head. All you need to do is simply fill the handle with your choice of washing up liquid and it dispenses as you clean! Easy peasy!

Dishmatic is an eco-friendly choice. Not only is it made out of recycled products but it also reduces dishwater usage saving you money on your energy bills.

Another benefit for me is that I have sensitive skin and found when using Dishmatic brushes I wasn't dipping my hands in hot soapy water half as much which my hands are very thankful for!
RRP is £1.47.

The new product in the Dishmatic range is the Dishmatic Brush! A super strong scrubbing brush with tough, sturdy bristles that will clean almost anything! Making the dirtiest jobs a doddle!
RRP £1.99.

I am a Dishmatic convert!

Dishmatic were kind enough to send me a couple of products to review on my blog. My opinions are my own.

J'adore Miss Carrie Bradshaw

"When it comes to relationships, maybe we're all in glass houses, and shouldn't throw stones. Because you can never really know. Some people are settling down, some are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than Butterflies..." - Carrie Bradshaw

Roald Dahl

I just stumbled across this picture on Facebook and it put a huge smile on my face!

Who doesn't love Roald Dahl? Who didn't grow up reading his amazing books? Which Roald Dahl book is your favourite? Mine is a toss up between The Twits and George's Marvellous Medicine. I remember when I was a kid I took inspiration from George's Marvellous Medicine and used to make my own potions out of shampoo's and shaving foam while in the bath! When I was outside I would find a bucket and mix together mud, sticks and whatever other nasty things I could get my hands on. All to create Jenna's Marvelous Medicine!
Isn't that what childhood is about?
Getting creative, imaginative and a little dirty!?

When I have children I will be buying all the classics cause every childhood needs the Roald Dahl magic!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a brilliant 2012! Onwards and upwards! Here's to 2013! Hope it brings lots of good luck, good times and good fortune!
