Another regular but lovely week none the less. Lots of Mummy and Noah time when Daddy is at work, lazy mornings a breakfast in bed. I love having our one on one time but we are always so happy when Nick gets home too! The weekend was spent visiting family, childminding, soft play, going to the park, going on walks, shopping and a meal out too! We always tend to have a really easy going week and then a super busy weekend!

Mummy & Me - July

Another month, another Mummy & Me blog post! I love this linky so much as it's so easy to join in with and great to look back at. In fact it's my favourite linky and I wish more bloggers would partake too! I really like our photo for July although Noah wouldn't smile, not even after I bribed him with cake! I took this photo on the hottest day of the year which you can probably guess from the state of my hair, it doesn't do well in humidity, ha ha!

A Dining Room Overhaul

If you read my blog regularly you will know that a couple of years ago we were fortunate enough to buy our first home. Interiors are one of my favourite topics to discuss or write about so here I go again! I'd happily speak to someone about paint swatches or grout colours over manicures and handbags any day of the week.

The house we bought was a lost cause to many people at first glance but upon viewing it both my partner and I could see past the avocado bathroom suite or the fact that it had no central heating because we could see it's potential and it just felt like home.

Once we got the keys to the house it was time to get stuck in because we had a very long journey ahead of us, it needed so much work. I didn't mind this because not only did it mean we bought a house at a bargain of a price but it also meant that we were able to have every room exactly how we envisioned it. We completed our renovations a few months back but one room I'm not entirely happy with has to be the dining room. I don't know if it's the fact that we don't use it or that it's just a bit boring or maybe it's both.

With this in mind, I recently decided this needed a change and I thought one way to change my opinion on the room would be to deck it out with total new furniture and decor as ours is all currently all mismatched and leaves a bit more to be desired. I was recently browsing online at BoConcept Glasgow and I was so inspired by their wide range of modern and eclectic pieces that I just had to share a few of my favourites.

I think this modern bookcase would make a gorgeous focal point to any room! Not only is it pleasing on the eye but look at all the storage space it provides too! It ticks both boxes for me, aesthetically pleasing and functional too!

Next up we have this super suave modern armchair which I'm head over heels in love with. I can imagine myself curling up in it with a hot cup of tea and a good book. It doesn't just look chic and stylish but it also looks so comfortable too.

One of the issues we have with our dining room is that with it being at the back of the house it doesn't get much light so we have to make the most of artificial lighting. We have quiet a few lamps in there at the moment but we are yet to get a main floor lamp like this one. It would match my theme and colour scheme to a tee and would also add a touch of sophistication to the room.

Last but certainly not least we have this modern and contemporary side table. Now this is something that I wouldn't usually go for but I need to take a step out of my comfort zone and go for something a little bit more exciting and I think this piece really is just that!

Do you have a room in your house that leaves you a little uninspired? Or let me know which out of these pieces is your favourite!

Last week we had a pretty rubbish week with Noah being unwell but thankfully this week has been great. Noah's been better and we've had lovely weather too! We've spent lots of time outdoors, spending time with family, we've had the paddling pool out, been for walks and yesterday went to Blackpool for the afternoon and had such a great day! Blackpool is one of Noah's favourite places and he'd spend hours on the 2p machines, grabber machines and the rides! Now the weather has picked back up we'll certainly be taking more trips to the seaside!

Garden Party Hosting Hacks: Lighting Tips

Being a host in any situation can be very daunting – but fear not. Lighting is a shortcut to looking like you’ve put a lot of effort in. This post takes a look at how outdoor lighting can be your best friend for a quick and easy way to get any outdoor space looking like it’s fresh from a Pinterest board – minimal effort required. These tips are ideal for all sorts of garden-held events like birthdays, barbecues, or a summer soiree with family or friends.

Festoon Fun
First up, festoons really are your friends. A string of lights draped around the edges of your garden fences, or overhead of you got hanging space, work wonders to transform a dull yard into an inviting and glowing party space. Here are some fail safe festoon lighting positioning ideas:
* Drape string lights around doorways.
* Use tall garden furniture like archways, pergolas, trellises and even any trees you might have to hang outdoor lights.
* Use larger heavy duty outdoor lamps to light up walkways and paths overhead

Festive Decoration
Festoon lights are great for their simplicity. They also give a sense of the ‘village fete’ or fairground atmosphere that can work really well if you have a similar theme for your party. If you want to mix it up a little, you can make DIY shades or get fun shades from places like Cox & Cox online. Why not partner your festoons with some bunting or lone hanging lanterns for an extra summery feel?

Table Lighting on the Cheap
Now, if you’re centring your party around food or drink, you’ve got to think about your table presentation and evening mood lighting. If you’re organising a kid’s party, candles aren’t the best idea if they’re unattended by an adult, but for night time grownups only they are a fantastic choice.
* Buy tea lights for cheap in bulk from almost any supermarket
* Invest in some tea light holders or recycle some clean glass jars for a homemade feel.

Set the Mood with Candlelight
Candles are great to kindle the mood with the gentle flicker of the flame; you never know; you could be kindling something more. Candlelight looks glorious on summer evenings and makes for a truly festive and charming atmosphere. Make sure you don’t overdo it; less can be more in some cases, so don’t overload your home with the bright stuff – you’ll want to keep a sense of night time mystery rather than copy that neighbour who goes a little over the top at Christmas time. There’s always one.

Do you have any tips you would like to share?

I'd like to say that we've had a really good week this week but that would be lying. Last week I mentioned that Noah wasn't feeling well towards the end of the week and that I hoped he would feel better in the morning but he didn't. He had a temperature, was lethargic, had a sore belly, was out of sorts and I thought oh no, this seems like hand foot and mouth again. I was right cause the next day the spots started to appear on his hands and then he got more and more, he was covered. The first time he had HFM he had them only in his mouth and none on his skin. This was horrific cause he couldn't eat or drink anything for three days and I ended up having to syringe milk down his throat to get something into him. This time around he hardly had any in his mouth as they were all over his skin instead. I don't know which time was worse really because although Noah could eat a little this time the sores and blisters were itchy and painful for him and he wasn't able to sleep for a couple of nights. Thankfully a combination of antihistamine, neurofen and calamine helped him somewhat. With him having HFM again we've spent all week indoors with the odd hour in the garden here and there, it's so contagious and I would hate for any other child to catch it from him. Better safe than sorry. Now we are coming to the end of the week most of his spots and blisters are healing now and he's totally back to his cheeky self. Lets hope he's fully on the mend, we are overdue a great week!

Nurture Fruity Water - Competition

NURTURE Fruity Water+ Launches Healthier Children’s Drink (With Lower Naturally Occurring Sugars) To Support Little Ones’ Immunity

NEW Nurture Fruity Water+ – the first functional drink of its kind – has launched in the UK, targeted specifically at young children (from 1 year) with added nutrients to support immunity and lower naturally occurring sugar.

Available in TWO delicious flavours: Cherry & Strawberry and Orange & Pineapple, Nurture Fruity Water+ is made with 45% natural juice and 55% water, as well as nutrients that support immunity, bones, and teeth (scientifically proven with EU health claims).

Nurture Fruity Water+ contains no added sugar and less than 1 teaspoon of naturally occurring sugar per 100ml, making it exempt from the upcoming UK sugar tax relating to unhealthy sugary drinks. What’s more, it is school approved, and offers the UK’s first mess-free pouch for on-the-go convenience.

Nurture is the story of parents Lucie and Derek Sanders. With three children of their own, they were on a mission to create a children’s drink that not only tastes delicious but is healthy, thanks to its natural goodness. Driven by a firm belief that if children consume less sugar from an early age, they will be less inclined to develop a ‘sweet tooth’ and more inclined to make healthy consumption choices later on, Lucie and Derek have focused on flavours that kids love. Nurture Fruity Water+ is all about nurturing our little ones’ healthy habits for life. Out with sugar, and in with flavour!

“Children’s immune systems are least developed and most at risk to germs and infection the younger their age”, says founder Derek Sanders.

“Nothing nurtures better than breast milk and all baby formula producers strive to replicate it. However, there is a gap in the market after children stop breast-feeding and formula, as there are currently no functional juice drinks with added nutrients available for children from 1 to 5 years. Nurture Fruity Water+ has been formulated to support children’s immunity and be part of a solution to help busy, on-the-go families stay healthy.”

NURTURE Fruity Water+ is available in 200ml pouches with a RRP of 99p to £1.49. Retailers include: Ocado, Whole Foods Market, and Holland & Barrett.

How would you like to win a case of Nuture Fruity Water+? To enter all you need to do is use the Gleam form below! Good luck and don't forget to enter my other blog competitions!

Peppa Pig Classic Toy Range - Review

Noah has had so many favourite characters and tv shows and I recently wrote all about his latest obsession here. Peppa Pig is one of those which he's had for a while now his love for that pig doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon, it's certainly one of his guilty pleasures.

When I was asked if Noah would like to review a couple of toys from the Peppa Pig classic toy range from Character I was delighted to accept. We didn't know which toys we would be receiving so it was very exciting to open our parcel when it arrived.
Inside was the Laugh with Peppa Toy priced at £19.99 and the Home and Garden Playset also priced at £19.99 both of which brought a huge smile to Noah's face.

Laugh with Peppa - £19.99

Firstly we have the Laugh with Peppa interactive toy. She's super soft and plush but of course has a hard belly where her batteries go. She falls over on her back when you tickle her tummy, then giggles and wiggles her arms and legs just like the TV character we all know and love. I think this is a great toy for Peppa fans of all ages both old school fans and new as it's so much fun and her giggles are contagious.

As you can see by the photo's Noah absolutely adored the Laugh with Peppa toy and it didn't take long for him to discover what she can do. He was giving her plenty of tickles, cuddles and kisses and she hasn't left his side for long since.

Home and Garden Playset - £19.99

Next we have the Home and Garden Playset. This toy is instantly recognisable as it's the well known and well loved iconic home you see in the TV show. The house opens up to reveal an attic room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room and garden. Included are lots of fun accessories, Peppa and George figures, a tree, seesaw, TV, fridge and bed all of which fits neatly inside the house once you've folded it shut. Being so compact makes for easy storage and also makes it a great toy for on the go.

Now this is Noah's new favourite toy as he's not stopped playing with it since it arrived. He loves exploring all the different rooms and I've found it's excellent for imaginative play. I will watch Noah with it and he will place Peppa in the bathroom and say she's going for a wee wee or he will pretend that George is jumping in the muddy puddles in the garden. It's really lovely to watch him play with it and I know he's going to get so many hours of fun from it.

Do you have a Peppa fan in your household? Would they like these toys?

- We received these toys for the purpose of this review however all opinions are our own.
