The Fortnite Battle Royale Collection - Review & Giveaway

The Fortnite Battle Royal Collection has landed and is bringing the popular game to life through various character figures and playsets - just in time for Christmas! Noah has played Fortnite a couple of times, with his older cousins, basically just cutting down trees - however, he's adamant that he's a huge fan and like most children, he knows all those silly Fortnite dances too! As you can imagine he was so excited when a loot crate box full of Fortnite Battle Royal toys arrived for him to unbox.

The Mission Specialist & Dark Voyager pack were the first characters to be unboxed and Noah couldn't have been any more delighted with them. They are both popular characters/skins in the franchise and look just like they do in-game. Their arms and heads are moveable, and they come with removable, interchangeable weapons and stands. The duo pack retail at £7.99 which I think is very reasonable - especially for branded toys which are usually priced ridiculously high.

Next, we opened the Sergeant Jonsey & Carbide set, which again retails at just £7.99. Carbide seems to be a popular character and having a different weapon option is a great added touch. Noah made sure to kit them up with their correct pieces, with a spare weapon on their backs. 

It was then time for the single packs; Omega and Aerial Threat - both very popular characters in the Fornite series and with an RRP of £4.99. Omega is Noah's favourite out of all the figures and he now wants to collect them all - that's over 100 characters!

The Fortnite Battle Royale Collection, from what I've seen, is fantastic. The figures are a great size, standing at 2 inches tall, they are perfect for play and for display. The collectability and playability of these toys are a big draw and we like how the weapons and accessories can be swapped between figures.

Discovery Digital Walkie Talkies - Review & Giveaway

I have many fond memories of my childhood - most of them revolve around being outdoors with my friends, making daisy chains, building dens with fallen branches, and communicating with my friends via our "talkies!" As you can imagine I was delighted when the chance came to review the Discovery Digital Walkie Talkies - I knew the kids would love chatting to one another through them and hoped they'd enjoy having walkie talkies just as much as I did when I was a kid.

Presented in an attractive box, with limited plastic packaging - they were ready to use within a few minutes after inserting 6xAAA batteries. They come with easy to follow instructions that also feature different STEM-based play ideas.

The Discovery Digital Walkie Talkies are just the right size for children from 4 years of age - or younger, like Ava, when supervised. They are lightweight, made from thin plastic, however, they are quite sturdy and have endured some rough and tumble already.

They feature a small LED display with 3 channels and has an LED torch for use in the dark - perfect for sleepovers or camping. They have an alert button that rings when someone is trying to call them and has the ability to transmit messages for up to an impressive 3km away. 

Overall, I'm really impressed with the Discovery Digital Walkie Talkies and so are the kids. It didn't take long for them to figure out how to work them and they've had a blast with them so far. Noah likes to take his into his attic room - he then proceeds to call down and order a snack!

Our £50 Shop At PoundToy - Review & Giveaway

As the blog title suggests, I was gifted a £50 voucher to spend at PoundToy. I was already familiar with the brand, having used their website before so I was more than happy to collaborate. With it being the summer holidays it couldn't have come at a better time, especially as it's been raining and we are spending more time indoors. So, without further ado, here is our £50 haul from PoundToy.

Before I started shopping I had a clear idea in mind of what type of products I wanted to buy for the kids, items which will keep them busy during the summer holidays. I headed straight to the craft supplies section first, choosing the Crayola Froze Colour Wonder Set - £4.00, WWE Carry Along Colouring Set - £1.00, Play-Doh Starter Pack - £7.99 and x2 Mighty Marks Markers 50p each. Play-Doh and colouring books always work a treat when I need 5 minutes of peace and they are great to enjoy together too. 

Next, we have a little mish-mash of different types of products; x2 painting aprons - £1.00 each, x2 softballs - £1.00 each, and x2 glitter goo - £1.00 each. The aprons are going to be perfect for a lot of the craft activities I have in mind for the next couple of weeks. The glitter goo is something that I know they'll love but I'm praying they don't smash it into the carpet. I chose the softballs for them to practice catching and throwing, without hurting anyone or breaking a window. All this came to just £6.00!

I then opted for the Paint & Glitter Your Own Piggy Bank - £3.00, a pack of Baff Bombs - £4.00, and a Bubble Buddies Bubble Machine - £6.00. These are all things that I knew the kids would like and things we could open up on different days. I bought the piggy bank set for Ava, although its aimed at children from 5 years of age she'll be a dab hand with it under my supervision. They've already opened the bubble machine and I think it will end up being a permanent feature in our home.

You cannot buy enough snacks and drinks during when you have children, so when I spotted that PoundToy had a couple in stock they went straight into my virtual basket. In went in x1 Despicabe Me Kinder Surprise - £3.00 and x2 boxes of Minions Appy Kids Co drinks - £1.50 each. We reviewed Appy Kids Co drinks a few years ago and they went down really well with Noah at the time. I like that they contain zero sugar and the kids love the fruity taste and the familiar characters on the front. The Kinder Eggs? Who doesn't love them? I hope the kids share! The total here was another bargain at just £6.00.

Last, but by no means least, we have the WWE Pint Size Heroes blind bags. I ordered 6 of them, costing £2.00 each (reduced from £4.99.) WWE and blind bags are two of his all-time favourite things and literally screamed when he saw them in the box! He opened all of them within seconds and was delighted with the wrestlers he found inside. He's already told me that he wants more for his birthday. These cost £12.00 in total, worth every penny they rounded up out total spend to exactly £50.00.

I was blown away with how many products we managed to get with the £50.00 voucher, it went a very long way. I managed to buy everything I had in mind, and more and I was very impressed with how many different toys and games they had on their website. I'll definitely be making a purchase again in the future!

WowWee Fingerlings Untamed Dragons Shockwave - Review & Giveaway

Fingerlings have been a household name ever since their release in 2017, three years later and I think they are just as popular now. WowWee introduces new breeds of Fingerlings every so often and I think that's what keeps things fresh and their momentum going. We've seen the likes of unicorns and pandas, and we have now welcomed dinosaurs and dragons too!

There are various Fingerlings Untamed Dragons to collect, which all look awesome, however, we received Shockwave for the purpose of this review. Shockwave is blue, purple and red and looks quite menacing! Noah was really intrigued when he saw him in the packaging, as was Ava decided to roar continuously at him.

Fingerlings Untamed are can be switched on or off using the button on the back of their head. They are super interactive and respond in numerous ways, from motion,  touch and sound. They move their head, blink their eyes and make an array of different sounds. Noah discovered that touching certain spots like on his nose or the back of his head that he would do different things and could be rocked to sleep too.

Untamed Dragon’s jaws light up when they are angry but they aren't just ferocious beasts, they can be tamed too. Noah tamed Shockwave by simply stroking his head and his neck. He then began to purr and the light in his jaw came to a fade. To make him untamed again you simply need to hold him upside down or press any of his sensors.

Count With Peppa Interactive Money Box - Review & Giveaway

Peppa is a very popular pig in our house, just like most homes across the UK. Noah's been a fan ever since he was a baby and Ava has also followed suit! I'm so happy that I get to relive it all over again, yay for me! In all seriousness, it's great that they both like it because it means that there's at least one cartoon that they'll both happily sit and watch together. With the kids being such big fans, I was happy to have the chance to review one of the latest Peppa Pig toys from Trends UK.

We received the Count With Me Peppa Interactive Money Box for the purpose of this review, which I was delighted about as it looked like something both children would enjoy. As soon as Ava saw the box she started screaming "Peppa!" in the highest pitched voice you could ever imagine! She couldn't wait to play with it!

The money box is made from brightly coloured plastic and shaped just like Peppa Pig. It comes with 10 interactive plastic coins which display different characters, colours, and numbers. They are quite large, just the right size for little hands to grab.

I think this toy is pretty self-explanatory, you put the coins into the money box, which is entertaining enough for little ones but there's so much more to it than that. Batteries aren't supplied but once they've been added, the fun turns up a notch! There are two different modes of play and a total of eight different activities. Depending on which mode it's set to, Peppa will ask for different coins to be inserted. This is a great way for little ones to learn through play, whilst keeping them busy and entertained. Peppa recognises which coins have been inserted and will respond to the action.

Ava adores the Count With Peppa Interactive Money Box, I'd go as far as saying it's her new favourite toy! She spends so much time placing the different coins into the money box and then fishes them back out again. She also enjoys singing and dancing to the three songs that it plays. The three songs are hits from the TV show; The Rainbow Song, The Counting Song and Head, Shoulders, Knee's and Toes. I was so relieved that The Bing Bong song wasn't included! Speaking of relief, you can also change the volume which I'm sure that my fellow parents would be pleased to know! All fun aside, this is going to be a great resource to use over the next couple of years when it comes to teaching Ava her colours and numbers.

Back To School Fun With Learning Resources - Review & Giveaway

Noah starts school in just a matter of days and I still can't seem to get my head around it! It's such a huge milestone in his childhood and I suppose I can no longer call him my baby? He's totally ready for school now, although he's still a little nervous about it. Thankfully, a lot of wonderful brands have wanted to collaborate with us on numerous back to school campaigns, which I think has helped to keep him busy him and has made him so much more excited about it too.

Learning Resources were the latest brand that wanted to work with us in the run-up to back to school, which of course delighted us as they are already a much-loved name in our house. Having worked with them in the past and having bought their toys, I can say that their products are one of a kind, and amazing! We're always excited to see what they'll release next.

We were sent two products from a selection they recommended, as they are perfect for children who are about to start school. The first product being the AlphaBee, which allows children to play and learn both at home and on the go! 

AlphaBee contains 40 different tiles (26 letter tiles, ten number tiles and 4 shape tiles) and 3 double-sided activity cards. The letter tiles feature uppercase on one side and lowercase on the other. The activity cards encourage different ways to play and learn. The plastic case itself features spaces for tiles to fit into to avoid movement when travelling and keeps everything in an orderly fashion. The case features an easy to open and close latch and a carry handle which is just the right size for little hands.

Alphabee is a great way to encourage a variety of key early learning skills such as; the alphabet, letter recognition, basic spelling, counting, number recognition, shape recognition and more. Noah isn't one to sit and learn the traditional way and prefer to learn through play so products like the AlphaBee are perfect for him. He's enjoyed spelling out his name, with correct casing and likes to sound out each letter as he goes. AlphaBee is suitable for children between the age of 2-6 and retails at £18.00.

The Pretend & Play Original School Set is just the ticket for getting prepared for school. It's a great way for children to gain a little confidence and familiarity before school through role play. It also helps develop early speech and language skills and letter and number recognition.
