20 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #2

Baby
The baby is now the size of a small cantaloupe and is roughly 6.5 inches long. It's estimated that she may weigh around 10.6oz at this stage but I have a feeling she's going to be a little chunk! This week she has started creating a waxy like substance called vernix which protects her delicate skin from becoming scratched or chapped. She's also started to produce meconium. Her movements are becoming so much more noticeable now and Nick was able to feel her kick for the first time this week.

Mummy
I'm still feeling good, nothing has really changed. Just feel very tired all the time and have bad heartburn on and off. Emotionally and mood wise I've felt great too! Craving wise it's still all about oranges, I really can't get enough. I get very very hungry from time to time and find myself snacking often. It's no surprise I've put on just over a stone already, whoops! My bump is really noticeable now and I'm in my element. I love having a bump.

I can't believe we are at the half way mark already, the pregnancy has gone by in a blur. I'm absolutely loving every moment, just like I did with Noah. Weight gain, heart burn, hair loss and so on is such a small price to pay to be able to experience something as incredible as pregnancy. It's truly magical and I wish I could bottle up this feeling. I'm really looking forward to meeting our baby girl and expanding our family but at the same time want to really enjoy these next twenty weeks of pregnancy.

See you next week!

  1. Can understand that you are enjoying your pregnancy. As you are obviously "showing" with your 20 week bump. So it is real for you, family, friends etc that you are expecting a baby ( a new addition). As you say the pregnancy symptoms are temporary, and you are aware of that given that you have previously experienced pregnancy.

Won't be too long till you meet little one, and you may well be well organised. As had a baby before, may have some baby items and just need to add a few things. Also with experience will remember what was useful / practical / helpful on last occasion. Also likely to have a good supportive social network now.

  3. Will be lovely when you can take photographs of your two children together. I wonder how they will interact as siblings. Seems that baby often brings Big Brother 9or big sister) a present. Seems a nice way to keep children included. Noah is so cute, and seems such a Happy little youngster.

  4. As you are now 20 weeks, I would expect that baby is due in Springtime. A nice time of year for a new baby.
