Making More Time For Myself & My Favourite Makeup Trends

AD - This is a PR collaboration.

I have always dabbled in makeup and used to really enjoy taking my time to do my hair and makeup, however, that went down the pan the minute I became a Mother. I could still take the time to do it if I planned my time better or woke up earlier in the morning, but time and sleep are a precious commodity these days. Lately, I tend to only use makeup every other day, sometimes less, as I just don't have the time to apply it, not a full face anyway. I can go as far as a tinted moisturiser and a bit of mascara but then one of the kids need my attention and I get pulled away.

This Summer I want to start making more time for me and one simple way to do that is to make sure I have time to pamper myself. I'd like to book myself into the hair salon, get my nails done and I really want to start enjoying makeup again. With that in mind, I thought I'd put together a post all about my favourite beauty products and trends that I'll be indulging in this Summer.

Glossed lips For the last couple of years, it's all been about the matte look lip, with certain celebrities embracing the trend by releasing their own matte effect liquid lipstick collections. However, this year we are set to see the return of glossy lips. A staple trend in the mid-2000s, a trusty lip gloss was essential for every make-up lover. Available in a variety of shades, you can introduce this versatile trend back into your make-up regime to guarantee a fresh, youthful finish.

Smudged eyeliner & long lashes
If you’ve ever struggled to master the precision of a perfect cat-eye flick, you’ll be glad to hear that smudged eyeliner is set to be a popular look this upcoming season. A great accompaniment to the laid back summer months, this ‘unfinished’ eye look means fewer hours in front of the mirror and more time enjoying the sunshine. Whether you use a smokey kohl liner or a gorgeous, pigmented eye palette, this look can be achieved with ease for ultimate style. I'm going to try and use some different colours too as I tend to always grab a black kohl liner. You can't rock eyeliner to the fullest extent without luscious, thick, natural lashes - Borboleta Lash Serum can give you all that, and more. It's my go-to when my lashes need some TLC.

Dewy skin
As with matte lips, matte skin finishes are also so out of fashion. Embrace the gorgeous, natural dewy skin trend this year and show off a healthy, youthful glow that can be created with ease. I recommend opting for a cream or liquid-based products, such as cream blushers, bronzers, and highlighters rather than powders. You should also choose satin finish foundations that offer lightweight coverage and a beautiful glow. If you prefer to have a higher coverage foundation, choose a buildable product or use a concealer before creating your dewy look.

What are your favourite beauty trends for the Summer?

  1. I like to have my hair looking and feeling naturally healthy. May have a look at hair products. Wouldn't mind some ideas :- If you have the time and opportunity to do such a blog. Hair accessories for Summer is also a consideration for myself, and others.

  4. I only wear make up if we're going out for a special occasion, I suffer with dry blotchy red skin on my face so tend to avoid aggravating it unless absolutely possible, I do like the multi coloured eye shadow look, no so sure on the fake lashes or drawn on eyebrows xx

  5. I need to get organised for Spring / Summer with clothing. Will consider what is needed, comfortable, practical, fresh, probably colourful. Make - up is more likely to be something I would think of for Drama Group, so would enjoy up date of fashion :- Past and present. As themes of Dramas (Theatricals) vary.

  6. I would appreciate information regarding tools :- Such as brushes, sponge etc. Also tequniques for applying make -up. As it does take time to learn and build up skills.

  7. I would appreciate information, advice, recommendations in regards to skincare.. As Beauty can be quite natural. Rather than made up with make - up (with make-up products, chemicals, etc). Maybe diet / nutrition, hydration, cleansing products / materials / methods / techniques, moisturisers, etc.

Some so called Beauty treatments / fashions concern me. Particularly in regards to eyes / eyebrows. It seems that the common fashion / fad is tattooed eyebrows. I take it that the full natural eyebrow hairs are removed before tattooing procedure. Eyebrows, as well as eyelashes have a purpose. That purpose is protective. To keep dust, debris, etc from entering the eye /s. As this could cause damage, or infection. Our eyes are precious and surely need protection, and to be valued. As they provide us with one of our five senses :- Sight ( Eyesight),

I wonder how eyes, and skin will be in the long term. As continual eyebrow plucking / removal :- Does it risk there being little or no eyebrow hair /s in the future? With age, there is a loss of elastin, will this impact on skin :- i.e. Will skin become loose, saggy, lined, does this risk of change of eyebrow shape / tattooing if continued, does it become more difficult due to loose skin / skin being less firm / plump. Time. A matter of time, and maybe experimentation / research , and we will learn / know long- term drawbacks to this present fashion / fad. What are others thoughts on this topic?

  8. "Beauty is more than skin deep". "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". It seems it is worthwhile looking at, or considering the bigger picture. As there can be beauty, talent, skills, empathy, compassion :- A variety of elements which can bring benefits, etc. "Variety is the Spice of Life". We were watching a tv programme about Barbra Streisand. It seems that she was eager to become an actress form a young age (childhood, 4-5years old, she stated).

Yet when she started out :- Auditions, etc. She was frustrated at fact that it was only appearance / looks which would be considered. She wanted to read, etc :- A true audition. Once her talents became evident, she seemed to excel in her chosen career. As we now know she is very talented :- Singer and actress, and has added to her range of skills over the years of practice / experience.

How will future youngsters find their place in the world :- Such as Employment??
