Review: Sassy Bloom

As a pregnant Mummy to be I am always looking for cool new products and companies to indulge in and SassyBloom is just that. A cool new concept of a personalised subscription box where you receive hand picked baby items on a monthly basis. With subscriptions as little as just £24 it would be ideal for a gift to a Mum or simply as a treat to yourself.

Not only do they deliver quality products to us Mums but aim to raise £100,000 for a charity that is close to their hearts; The Pulmonary Hypertension Association amongst others.

SassyBloom were kind enough to send me a sample box for the purpose of this review. On arrival I absolutely loved the box. It was pretty, girly and very good quality. Although at first glance I wouldn't think baby I would think more boutique!

On opening I received:

Pack of Waterwipes
MAM Anti Collic Bottle
Baby Einstein Bendy Ball
x2 Hipp Food Pouches
Mama's Soothing Leg and Foot Cream
Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo
Reusable Snack bag

Now for a run down on the items I received.

Waterwipes:  Waterwipes are the worlds purest baby wipes containing just 99.9% water and 0.1% fruit extract. They are suitable from birth and helps prevent nappy rash. I can't wait to use them but was a little disappointed as it did look like a sample pack as it only contains 10 wipes which won't get you far when changing a dirty nappy.

MAM Anti-Colic Bottle: MAM is a great company and I was happy to see one of their products in the SassyBloom box. It is something I will use if breastfeeding does not work our for us.

Baby Einstein Ball: This toy would be great for a baby 3+ months but not suitable for when my little one arrives. A good quality toy and I can see a lot of babies having lots of fun with it.

HiPP Organic Fruit Pouches: Again a good product which I will probably use once our son is weaning but not applicable to me at the moment. I hate to see things going to waste.

Mama's Soothing Leg and Foot Cream: Therapy for those hard working legs carrying a heavy load! This sounds brilliant. I am looking forward to trying this out as I do get achy legs and swollen feet now in third trimester. It is a full sized product and it smells divine.

Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo: Some more disappointment when it comes to this as it looks like another sample. Being an organic product it is something I would like to use once baby is here.

Snack Bag: This is a little reusable Snack bag which is adorned with cute little monkeys.  Again another item I wouldn't be able to get use out of until baby is weaning. Which is a long way away. To be honest I don't think I would use it then either as I would go for little tubs to store his snacks in. That way the food wouldn't be damaged. Still I am sure I will find some use for it!

I take on board that this is a sample box and there are some lovely items inside but to me the box isn't worth £24. It contains small sample products and it seemed like such a big box for such a small amount inside. I think SassyBloom is a fantastic concept and company that has a lot of room to grow and develop. I wish them all the best.

I was sent this product for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.

  1. Lovely idea but seems a little overpriced to me when you think of the stuff that you could actually go out and get with the money, without it being hit and miss, great honest review! X

    1. Thanks Victoria. I hope they take the constructive criticism on board. I know they are just starting out and it was a sample box so they can only improve :)

  2. Thanks for posting your review Jenna, we will definitely take your comments on board.

Just to clarify as mentioned - regarding your comment about the box not being worth £22.00 - the contents of the box you received were products taken from different boxes rather than an 'actual box' and put together for the purpose of your review. The retail value of each box is approx £40.00.

    Thank you

  3. Does seem overpriced, also I think the name is wrong, it sounds more like underwear! X

  4. I don't understand why a box that isn't an 'actual box' would be sent out at all - if you are a blogger reviewing the products and service, you should be reviewing what they actually have to offer for the consumer not a random load of things cobbled together that are of little or no use to you x

  6. Great idea but i would rather spend that money on a gift voucher for more relevant items, as the food would surely go to waste. It Seems very expensive for what you get. Shame they didn't send an "actual box". Slightly misleading.

  8. I would be interested to see what items are in the 'real' box as I like the concept but based on the sample box I wouldn't buy one. If I'm buying a gift for a friend who's pregnant or a just had a baby, I would put a lot of thought into choosing something that's suitable for both mother and baby. In my experience, if I have to put a gift away until it's suitable for use, I'd put it somewhere 'safe' and forget about it!

    Great honest review x

  9. Good honest review, but maybe they should of sent an actual box for review to get a true review of their products. x

  10. Great review hun on the not 'actual box' HAHA

Like Bex said if this isn't an actual box why send it? Or at least mention it to you so you knew.
I think they may have been trying what NonaBox did with the bloggers review on the concept maybe.

    Anywho you're awesome!

  11. I love the idea behind this but it looks like it needs a bit more work in practice - I'd be gutted to have paid £20ish for that - I'd rather spend the money handpicking the items myself!
Hopefully they can take on board your suggestions as the concept is great!

  12. Great idea but as many others have said does seem rather overpriced for what you get. Even with an 'actual' box, it needs to be cheaper imo. x

  13. Looks really lovely - I'd love to receive something like these each month. Does anyone know when we can sign up?

  14. The thing I find with this is how they expect you to review something if they don't let you review the full package?
Even if it is £21,£24 or even £40, most of what is in there is certainly not worth it, can be found for free as samples from the likes of Boots Baby Club, Tesco Baby Club or even the Bounty and Emma's Diary packs, and aren't worthy of the price. Yes, they have tagged on the charity angle but even so, I'd rather give a donation in someone's name as a gift and then perhaps give them some gift vouchers than waste a lot of money on something which could have been great with more thought. Perhaps if they would allow buyers to go on site and pick from a selection of products up to a certain amount, then it would be relevant the items sent at the right time.
What bugs me most here though is their response to your review. Brands need to finally realise that bloggers will be 100% truthful regardless of what they get as a freebie, we blog with integrity or otherwise other's could buy it on a recommendation and then feel ripped off. Yes they may be trying to protect their brand but this is an honest constructive review, and likewise bloggers also have to protect their brand too.

  15. It's a great idea, after all the monthly Beauty Boxes on offer there's definitely a gap in the market for this - I've often wondered why people haven't done this before now.

Also, £24 is a lot of money. Most of the beauty boxes are no more than £13 and you get a lot more inside including some full sizes. Plus I'd never think Sassy Bloom is a name for a new mum/late stage pregnancy box!

What a shame the items you received weren't appropriate to the stage of your pregnancy, I can see why it's disappointing!
