Organix Mini Flapjack Bites - Review & Giveaway

AD - This is a collaborative post.

I've said it once, I'll say it again - we adore Organix. I've worked with them numerous times over the years and I'm a loyal customer too, adding their snacks onto our shopping list every week. As a parent, I couldn't approve of their foods more and I'm always delighted when the kids opt for something from Organix, over an unhealthy snack. Organix continuously adding new and exciting products to their already extensive range, keeping things fresh and exciting. The newest product to their range are the Mini Flapjack Bites - Ava couldn't wait to try them.

The new Organix Mini Flapjack Bites are available in two different flavours; oat and raisin and oat and banana. Each box contains 4 individual bags, making them ideal for eating on the go, as well as at home. In accordance with the Public Health England guidelines on snacks, each bag contains less than 100kcals.

At home

As always, they carry the No Junk Promise and are made with only organic ingredients and absolutely nothing artificial. They are loaded with wholegrain oats and juicy raisins - a tasty snack for my kids' when they are on the go and having an adventure.

Ava was so intrigued by the bitesize flapjack bites and tried one as soon as I opened the bag. She got through the bag fast, which means that they got her seal of approval. Noah really enjoyed them too and he's 6. I'd go as far as saying they are their new favourite and we will certainly be buying them again once they've eaten them all. As a parent I think Organix is the best thing since sliced bread - their foods are tasty, exciting and a healthier alternative to others on the market. I'll always recommend them to a friend.

On the go

Organix Mini Flapjack Bites are suitable for children from 12 months of age, are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. They cost £2.49 per box and you can purchase them at Morrisons, Ocado, and Sainsbury's.

Organix Baby & Toddler Cookbook - Review & Giveaway

AD - This is a PR collaboration.

Weaning my children, believe it or not, is one of my favourite parts of parenthood, but I know not all parents feel the same. I think that starting a child's weaning journey with patience, confidence and excitement creates a positive association with food from the get-go, and is key to enjoying the experience just like we did.

Noah and Ava have always been fantastic eaters, with good appetites and a broad palate - I don't know if that's because I got lucky with them, or if it's because it was a positive, relaxed, and exciting experience for them. I like to think the latter. That said, I sometimes get stuck in a rut with the meals that I make, resorting to the same home-cooked favourites that I know they'll eat. With this in mind, I always welcome fresh inspiration and new ideas, and the new Organix Baby and Toddler Cookbook has provided just that - packed full of tasty breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and sweet recipes for all the family.

Inside, before the recipes, you will also find an introduction to Organix and what they do, their ethos and the history of their brand. There's also a plethora of tips and advice which I'm sure all parents will welcome. It's ideal for most families, whether you are about to start your little ones weaning journey, or if they are well into it, whether you are a novice in the kitchen, or a dab hand. It's left me feeling inspired and has been a great way to get the kids involved in the kitchen too. All the ingredients for these recipes can be found in local supermarkets and each recipe caters to different ages and stages of your weaning journey as well as any dietary requirements. I looked through the cookbook with Ava and she liked pointing out the different recipes and flapped her hands and squealed "yummy" when something appealed to her.

There are so many different recipes that I plan to make, which appeal to my family, however, I decided to make the Chinese Salmon and Veggie Rice first. It was very easy to make and is delicious and crammed full of goodness. Ava devoured it within minutes and I'll be making it again soon - for the whole family.

The recipes in the Organix Baby & Toddler Cookbook are designed to help encourage little one’s love of food and fuel their wonder along the way. Retailing at around £13.00, it's available to buy from all major UK bookstores and online at Amazon.

Organix Cocoa & Vanilla Gruffalo Biscuits - Review & Giveaway

AD - This is a PR collaboration.

We've been buying Organix products for years, ever since Noah was a toddler and had started his weaning journey. Over the years, I've continued to buy them, for both Noah and Ava. We adore the brand and like how they keep their range fresh and exciting by releasing new products, their newest being the Organix Gruffalo Cocoa & Vanilla biscuits.

The new Organix Gruffalo Biscuits contain only organic ingredients, no added salt, artificial colours or flavours - the Organix No Junk Promise that parents know and love. Each individual bag contains less than 100kcal and adheres to the  Public Health England guidelines on sugar for little ones.

The biscuits are bound to be popular with little ones as they are shaped just like the Gruffalo and the mouse in the story and are very tasty with their cocoa and vanilla flavour. They are a great size and amount for a healthier snack to nibble on between meals and the individual bags make them ideal for inside lunchboxes, for trips to the shops, for picnics and for taking out on adventures too. I think they'd be perfect for taking to the various Gruffalo trails across the UK.

Ava, like most children, adores the Gruffalo and was delighted to spot her favourite characters on her biscuits. Seeing them on the biscuits adds a little extra fun and wonder to snack-time and has made us revisit the books all over again. In fact, she likes me to read the book, whilst she eats her biscuits - feeding her imagination and belly, both at the same time. She seems to really enjoy the taste and I can see us buying more in the future.

Organix Gruffalo Cocoa & Vanilla Biscuits are suitable for children from 12 months, are available in a box of 5 individual 20g bags. They cost £2.49 per box and are available to buy at Ocado and in Sainsbury's.
How would you like to win two boxes of Organix Gruffalo Cocoa & Vanilla biscuits? Simply use the Gleam form below to enter and keep a lookout on my social media channels for more chances to win.

Celebrating Organix 25th Birthday & Win A Hamper Of Organix Snacks - Competition

Leading baby and toddler snack food brand Organix are celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2017. For 25 years, Organix has been setting standards for the food industry, providing parents with nutritious ‘no junk’ organic food for their little ones and campaigning for better quality food for children.

Organix makes their food in a sustainable way and to celebrate this milestone in their history, they are launching Making Things Better - their first sustainability report - which tracks their progress across 19 key areas. A letter from Organix to the children of future generations pledges their commitment to always keep improving and challenging the status quo (see notes to editors for full text).

Now the number one baby and toddler snack food brand in the UK, Organix originated from more humble beginnings, the kitchen of founder Lizzie Vann, who decided to turn her vision to improve children’s health into reality and set about developing the UK’s first organic baby food.
Long before it was popular to put purpose before profit, Organix was set up with a social mission at its heart – ‘Pure Food, Healthy Babies, Safer World.’ Since then Organix has worked tirelessly to pioneer healthy children’s food, lobbying Government and the food industry through impactful, attention grabbing campaigns, including:

* Food for Life (2003): led to changes in school meals and was championed by Jamie Oliver.
* Action on Additives (2007): sought the removal of six artificial colours from food targeted at children - food giants like Nestle, Coca-Cola and Cadburys changed their recipes as a result.
* Georgie, Porgie, Pudding and Pie (2008): Highlighted the poor quality and lack of regulation around nursery food.
* Out to Lunch (2013): transformed children’s food served in restaurants, at leisure attractions and on the high street.
* Engineering Taste (2016): shines a light on food engineering and how food companies are making misleading claims and leaving parents confused.

Organix will be marking their quarter century with a show stopping birthday cake which tells the story of their 25-year history through the medium of icing! The cake, comprises seven tiers of delicious sponges reflecting the flavours of two of their top selling foods – Carrot Sticks and Goodies Raspberry & Apple Oaty Bars – and is topped with another of their best sellers, a Goodies Gingerbread Man.

Fun Facts
* 12 million people have bought Organix snacks – that’s enough to fill Twickenham 150 times over!
* Organix have sold over 3,000 tons of Goodies raisins – that’s more than 21 blue whales!
* Organix have sold 1.6 billion rice cakes – that’s enough to share with one fifth of the world’s population!
* Organix have sold over 235 million Goodies soft oaty bars – laid end to end they would reach to Timbuktu and back 3 times!

I've teamed up with Organix to give away a hamper of Organix snacks to one lucky winner. Included in the prize will be the Organix Carrot Stix, Organix Goodies Raisins, Organix Goodies Gingerbread Men, Organix Goodies Soft Oaty Bars and the new Organix Punk'd Bars. Organix Goodies Fruit Gummies - Competition

Organix Goodies, the UK’s leading toddler snack brand, are launching Goodies Fruit Gummies in a new mixed flavour multipack.  As the first mixed multipack in fruit snacks, it offers parents a larger value pack and gives them greater variety and choice.

The new pack format is the result of Organix research, showing mums and dads want variety in a multipack, not just a box of single fruit flavours – in fact nearly 60% of parents are buying multiple flavours of fruit snacks on each shop, yet there’s not a multipack format available which offers flavour variety – until now!  The mixed box also offers convenience, for parents looking for no junk alternatives to unhealthy snacks for use at home or on the go - from a brand that they trust #SmallWins.

Made from 100% organic fruit, Goodies Fruit Gummies are fun shaped fruit snacks, bursting with flavour, for toddlers over 12mths (older siblings can enjoy them too!).  Each Fruit Gummies multipack includes five single portion 12g bags, made up of two Blackcurrant Stars, two Raspberry and Apple Moos, and one Strawberry Gummies.

They come with the Organix No Junk Promise, a stamp of reassurance for parents that they are made with the best organic ingredients and contain nothing unnecessary, so little ones get great tasting snacks without the junk.

Top Tip:  Cooking with little ones?  Goodies Fruit Gummies are brilliant for home baking.  Use Gummies to decorate biscuits, cakes and muffins with fun fruity shapes and pretty patterns.  Getting your children into the kitchen, exploring ingredients and cooking together is a great way to get them interested in food. #SmallWins

Organix Goodies Fruit Gummies will start appearing in supermarkets from late April, with even more stores stocking them by summer 2017. Price: £2.49 for a multipack containing 5 x 12g bags.

Organix research also highlighted that parents’ preferences on pack format differ - so in more good news you’ll still be able to buy Goodies Fruit Gummies in single packs too! You can see more about the small wins that parents celebrate daily in this short film clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAGQSdwFP4w

Here's some tasty finger food for little ones to fall in love with on Valentine’s Day! Introducing Organix Red Pepper Hearts! Organix only use organic corn in its puffs, which are gently baked into hearts that are easy to pick up and perfectly sized for little fingers. Deliciously tasty, all that’s added for flavour is red pepper and carrot. These red pepper hearts are an ideal finger food for babies from 7 months+ (stage 2) who are learning to feed themselves. Their chunky shape and crispy texture (that then melts in the mouth) gives your little one something new to explore.

Win 1 of 3 Organix Weaning Bundles #RealFoodFace - Competition

I thought I would pick up where I left off yesterday where I shared Organix recent survey findings and weaning tips from the experts, you can read that post here or search the hashtag #RealFoodFace

We weaned Noah what feels like a lifetime ago when in reality it was only 2 years ago now. His expressions or should I say his #RealFoodFace played a big part in what foods I thought he would like and which he wouldn't but I didn't let that stop me introducing new foods to him. He's now almost two and a half and will eat pretty much anything you put on his plate and I think that is all down to offering a wide variety of food as soon as weaning begun.

Organix has created weaning foods with a variety of tastes, shapes and textures to encourage your baby’s curiosity about food. For little ones at the start of their journey Organix offers a variety of simple and natural first tastes in baby cereals and fruit pots, to more challenging flavours and textures as your baby moves on. Their finger foods come in lots of different shapes and sizes to encourage your little one to pick them up and learn to feed themselves. All its foods come with the Organix No Junk Promise, a stamp of reassurance that they are made with the best organic ingredients, and contain no unnecessary additives so your little one gets great tasting food, without the junk.

To help your little one on their very own weaning journey I've teamed up with Organix to offer 3 lucky winners a £20 bundle of their baby foods. To enter all you need to do is use the Gleam form below. Good luck and don't forget to enter my other blog competitions.

Top Weaning Tips & Ideas with Organix #RealFoodFace

A survey, launched last week by leading baby food brand Organix, reveals that one of the biggest barriers to introducing new foods during weaning is baby’s facial expression in response to new tastes. It can be challenging to introduce new foods during weaning and the faces babies pull can be interpreted by parents as disgust or dislike at what they are trying, which can make it all the harder.

The Organix weaning survey reveals
:
* More than half (55%) of mums say a baby’s facial expression puts them off trying to encourage their baby to like a new taste and flavour.
* 49% say it’s a struggle to keep babies interested in food.
* 42% say they find it hard to get babies to try new foods during weaning.

From sweet carrot to sour lemon and bitter broccoli, weaning is the beginning of a taste adventure, the first opportunity for your baby to explore and experience taste sensations. Evidence shows that it can take between 10 and 15 times to introduce a new food or flavour and that learning about food is all about familiarity and repetition. So by understanding more about their babies’ facial expressions, parents are likely to feel more confident about introducing new foods.

In response to the research, Organix has commissioned Vivien Sabel, Clinical Psychotherapist and body language expert, to help parents interpret and understand their little one’s facial expressions, rather than being put off.

Top tips from Vivien Sabel, Clinical Psychotherapist and body language expert:
* Look out for all of your baby’s non-verbal cues and expressions, they can support your baby and you through weaning and trying new foods.
* Observe your baby’s expression and mirror it back to your baby as a way of saying you understand their communication.
* Remember babies do what babies see! They are like sponges and soak up everything you do, if you look like you’re enjoying the food, your baby is likely to copy you.* The more time you spend observing your baby the more you’ll understand what they’re communicating.

It can be challenging to keep offering new foods and coming up with new and inspiring ideas to tempt little ones, but it’s important as those first tastes during weaning help define a child’s future relationship with food. The Organix survey found:
* 63% of mums say it’s stressful to think of different foods for your baby to try.
* 57% say it’s a challenge to encourage little ones to try a wide range of tastes.

To help inspire parents Organix’ children’s food expert Lucy Thomas has lots of simple, fun activities to help introduce new taste sensations to babies. Here you can see how vlogger Charlie O’Brien put some of them to the test with her son Noah https://www.youtube.com/user/Organixfood

Ideas for Weaning Fun – by Lucy Thomas, Organix’ Children’s Food Expert:
* Finger popping purée: have some fun with Organix fruit pots and explore new tastes and textures at the same time. Dip your fingertips into the pot so they’re covered in the brightly coloured purée (Organix Apple & Blueberry is lovely and bright), then suck the purée off your fingers with a loud popping sound followed by a big smile. Then help your baby do the same - if easier pop a spoonful of purée on their highchair tray for them to dip their fingers in.

* Matching pairs: match a finger food with a purée, such as Organix carrot sticks as a dipper with carrot purée, you could try a soft cooked carrot baton too. It’s a great way to offer the same vegetable in lots of different ways for baby to try without masking the real flavour.
* Tiny taste explorer: offer your baby small taste experiences throughout the day, to introduce them to new tastes. Try a lick of the lemon slice from your water, a sprinkle of cinnamon on their apple purée, a hint of curry powder in their parsnip mash or a pinch of nutmeg in some Organix banana porridge.
* Mirror image: babies are fascinated by their reflection, even though they can’t recognise themselves! Hold a mirror in front of them whilst they’re eating or holding a finger food, it’s a great activity when you’re introducing something new, watch how their expression changes.

Do you have any tips or ideas you would like to share?

Celebrate National Breakfast Week with Organix‏ - Competition

Organix is celebrating National Breakfast Week (24th – 30th January) to help inspire mums and dads to get a great start to the day with their little ones. So why not shake up breakfast time and try something new. For babies, Organix has a range of tasty cereals and for babies, toddlers and mum and dad why not try one of Organix’ simple and tasty recipes.
Dr Frankie Phillips Nutrition Adviser to Organix shares her reasons why eating breakfast is so important, plus some easy, healthy breakfast ideas that babies - and all the family - will love.

* Research shows it really is the most important meal of the day.

* Breakfast is an energy boost - it replenishes and restores the energy that’s been used up overnight, after all it literally means to “break fast”!

* Eating breakfast has been shown to boost mental and physical performance - giving you and your little one more get up and go, and making you more alert for the day ahead.

* Sitting down to eat breakfast together is a great way to start the day as a family.

* Breakfast is a perfect opportunity to fit in a wide range of healthy nutrients, vitamins, minerals protein and energy - all needed for your little one’s growth and development.

Top tip: Try starting the day with a relaxed breakfast together. Try not to rush – getting up 15 minutes earlier will make breakfast a far more relaxed affair.

To help you keep breakfast healthy, nutritious, delicious, quick and simple try Frankie’s ideas:

* Use breakfast as a chance to include some of your 5 a day - try adding some chopped banana or dried fruit to cereal or porridge (dried apricots and raisins can boost iron content), or for older family members go for baked beans, mushrooms or tomatoes on a slice of toast. A small beaker of unsweetened fruit or vegetable juice (150 ml) diluted with water also counts.

* Dried breakfast cereal with milk is a quick and easy favourite for all - go for unsweetened cereals. Babies need to drink around 500 - 600 ml of formula or breast milk by the time they are approaching their first birthday, so cereal is a great way of getting them to have the milk they need without using a bottle, and expressed breast milk can be used on cereal too. After one year, your little one can have whole cow’s milk on his cereal.

* Have a protein boost by trying scrambled egg or chopped up boiled egg (make sure it’s cooked through) with a slice of toast, or if you’re in a hurry, toast, spread with cream cheese. Even quicker - stir some dried cereal and frozen berries, or a fruit puree, into whole-milk yoghurt.

* Get the whole family into a porridge habit. It’s a slow release energy food, fills you up and keeps you going, so it’s a great way to start the day. Porridge can be made up with formula or breast milk for your baby. For extra flavour and texture try topping it with fruit puree or dried fruit.

* Mix up a breakfast smoothie using milk, with added fruit and a spoonful of peanut butter.

* If you are having breakfast on the go chop up some banana and mix in some dried breakfast cereal so that your little one can enjoy these as finger foods. Don’t forget to include a cup of his milk to go with it.

Breakfast cereals from Organix

Organix Goodies - Competition

I've always been a big fan of Organix. Ever since our weaning journey began all those months ago Organix was always a brand we reached for and still do to this day.

In case you don't know, Organix and Organix Goodies create delicious foods and snacks using only the best organic ingredients to help inspire a lifelong love of good foods.

They produce food for all different ages and stages from 4-6m* through to 12m plus. From fruit puree's through to gingerbread men, they really push the boundaries when it comes to baby food and snacks.

At every stage of our weaning journey there has been something from their diverse range that Noah has thoroughly loved. At the beginning of our journey he gobbled up their fruit pots and then when he was moving on to different textures he would have a bowl of their scrummy muesli for his breakfast.

Now at 21 months Noah is still enjoying snacks and nibbles from their Goodies range. There is so much to choose from and his favourites are the banana and date bars and the mini oaty bites. I like stocking up on their range because I know come snack time that Noah will be eating something healthy and organic.

Organix recently sent Noah some of their new products to try which he absolutely loved, as per usual. Not only that but they have also supplied a prize for you guys too! How would you like to win an Organix Goodies hamper worth £20? All you need to do is enter via Rafflecopter below. Good luck!
