The Essential Mum on the Go Kit

When it comes to being a Mum nothing compares to the struggle of trying to leave the house on time. Whereas previously you’d be able to take a leisurely breakfast, perfect your make-up and find an outfit that looks like it’s stepped straight out of Pinterest, post-baby resembles something a little like the apocalypse.

These days porridge stained clothes, hair on day three styled in to a top knot and an outfit which is picked up off the bedroom floor is the new normal and that’s on a good day. But if you’re always left rummaging through your bag wondering how you managed to forget that essential then worry no more, as this little guide has a few top tips and essentials to make mum on the go life that little bit easier.

Whilst this list could go on forever and is by no means the Holy Grail, anything which helps to keep mum life less chaotic and give you more time to spend with your little ones is only ever a good thing.

First Things First, Get Organised!
Let’s start with the basics. Your bag needs to be organised, there’s nothing worse than rummaging around trying to find all manner of things in a pile of mess and letting out a frantic sigh when you can’t find what you were looking for. It would be amazing if we could all be blessed with a Mary Poppins style bag that can produce anything and everything at the drop of a hat, but keeping your bag orderly can not only help you to fit more in, but also make finding things a whole lot easier.

There’s a whole host of amazing ‘mummy’ bags out there that scream style rather than mumsy. Don’t be tempted to pick something too big as that’s when the temptation to over pack comes in. Really think about what’s absolutely essential for you to carry on a daily basis. If you’ve got a new baby then it’s likely you’ll need a few more things than if you have a toddler so it completely depends on your situation.

Keeping Connected
If there’s one thing we are all glued to these days it’s our phones. Whether we’re updating Instagram with our latest carefully shot snap, entertaining little ones with their favourite game or catching up over WhatsApp, it’s the lifeline we hold in the palm of our hands.

But if the low battery notification leaves you in a state of panic then fear not, as you can quickly make it a thing of the past. Investing in a power bank such as this one can leave your phone full of charge and you with a happy smile.

Staying Clean
There’s only a certain amount an enthusiastic toddler will listen when you tell them not to do something, especially when it involves muddy puddles – thanks Peppa Pig! With summer looming and sunshine on the horizon (fingers crossed) then spending time outdoors is likely to be on the agenda as are grass stains and muddy knees.

Wipes are your absolute BFF in mum life and whether it’s sticky fingers or grubby faces that need a quick wipe on the go, make sure these are in your essential kit or you might regret it. A pack of tissues always comes in handy for runny noses and hand sanitizer to keep germs at bay too.

Healthy Snacks
There’s times when we all stay out a little longer than we initially intended too and when tummy rumbles strike the temptation to pick up a sugary chocolate bar from the local shop can leave you with a neglected waistline and children with an unhealthy habit. Taking a selection of healthy children friendly snacks with you whilst you’re out and about, can mean important meals aren’t skipped and tummies are fuller for longer. Nut butters are a great way to add something different to their usual apple slices or rice cakes.

Spares, Spares, Spares
No matter how many times you’ve searched for it, you still can’t find it right? Sadly, in your role as a mum there are things you can’t always explain and when that absolute must-have goes missing it can leave you in a tizzy.

If it’s something you quite simply can’t live without then always keep a back up. Favourite teddy? It can pay to have a couple if stores to ensure toddler tantrums don’t arise when their best friend goes walkabouts. Even better keep a ‘going out’ one in your bag and one at home too.

Mum life isn’t always easy, but it’s the best job in the world. So make your life a little bit easier and take inspiration from these few essentials.

Naturelly Jelly Juice - Review & Competition

Being a Mother to a two year old I'm always on the look out for new snacks and drinks for him to try so when Naturelly asked if we would like to review some of their jelly juice I took them up on their offer.

Naturelly is a naturally fruity and fun refreshing jelly juice drink and snack made with scrumptious fruit juice and a special gelatine free wibbly jelly. This jelly juice naturally helps fill up little tummies until meal time and helps stop those cravings for sugary snacks. It's a school approved product and we've also been approved by the vegetarian and coeliac societies too. Also as it's a jelly it doesn’t spill in your car Yay!

Naturelly jelly juice comes in three scrumptious flavours. Each flavour is great for slurping and comes in an easy-squeezey pouch perfect for little hands.

Summer Fruits

The taste of summer and outdoor adventures in an easy-squeezy pouch. What could be better?

Totally Tropical
Totally Tropical is arriving this August! Slurp up a little sunshine with pineapples, apple, passion fruit and orange.

Apple and Blackcurrant
Crisp, juicy apple goodness straight from the trees we've climbed with brilliant blackcurrant.

All three delicious flavours are made form 70% fruit juice, contain no articial flavours of colours, no added sugar, no added sugar and are 36 calories per pouch.

We were recently sent some to try out and I couldn't wait to see what Noah thought of them. He doesn't like jelly, at all. In fact it's actually one of the only foods he doesn't like. With that in mind I was delighted to see that he was a huge fan of Naturelly Jelly Juice, so much so that all the review samples that were sent were devoured in a matter of days. They are the perfect treat to have on a warm day as they are so light and refreshing! I'll definitely be buying more in the future.

How would you like to try them too? I have a case of 36 pouches to give away worth over £40! The prize would certainly set you and your little one up for Summer! To enter all you need to do is use to Gleam form below. Good luck and don't forget to enter my other blog competitions.

Story Time with Noah

Once upon a time I was a self confessed bookworm. I've always loved to read and the majority of my favourite childhood memories are based around books; going to the library with my Mum, reading bedtime stories, collecting Jacqueline Wilson books, the school book club and so on.
But now that I'm a Mum and my free time is none existent I rarely have the chance to read but there's always time to read with my son.

I started buying books for Noah back when he was the size of a pea inside my belly. From day one I knew that I wanted my child to enjoy books just as much as I did when I was a child.

I understood the importance and the benefits of reading to my child, the younger the better. I read to him when I was pregnant, when he was a newborn, when he was a baby and now he's a toddler. Although I've always read to him he would never sit still for long and would wander off a couple of pages into the story. I also couldn't read to him at bedtime as instead of relaxing him it would have the reverse effect and would get him over excited.

Much to my delight over the last few weeks he's finally enjoying story time and always asks for more. Even better yet he is also enjoying bedtime stories in a calm and relaxed manner and I love that we are able to finally include this in our bedtime routine.

Below are some of the books that we've been enjoying lately! All four books are firm favourites of Noah's, especially Side by Side which is a lovely tale of a little mouse who doesn't have a friend and goes looking for one in Wintermouse Wood!

1. Side by Side by Rachel Bright & Debi Gliori
2. Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast by Josh Funk & Brendan Kearney
3. Sylvia and Bird by Catherine Rayner
4. Goodnight Tractor by Michelle Robinson & Nick East

Does your child love to read too? Which out of these four books do you think your little one would enjoy the most? Or feel free to tell me about your child's favourites!

Well the weather this week certainly made up for last week and then some! It's been glorious every single day and we've made sure to enjoy every moment of the nice weather. Noah spent the afternoon with his Nanna on the Sunday while Nick and I transformed his cot into a bed. When he saw it for the first time he couldn't stop giggling with excitement and was so pleased with it. The first night in the bed he was a little restless but every night since he's been great, no problem whatsoever. On Monday it was Bank Holiday so we took Noah to the fair where he enjoyed the rides, the bouncy castles and of course the ice cream! The rest of the week we spent plenty of time in the garden playing with his best friend next door, so lovely to watch the two of them socialise and play with one another. Weekend wise we've been super busy! We went clothes shopping for our holiday, visited family and went to a family birthday party. What a great week it's been!

What have you been up to this week?

10 Things I'm Loving Lately

1. Toddlerhood -
Every milestone and stage your child reaches is a delight and of course has it's trials and tribulations too but I'm really loving the age Noah is at right now. He's two and a half in just over two weeks and he's such a character and is so funny too. His speech is getting there, he's learning something every day, he knows most his colours, is potty training like a champ and loves to sing and dance. I cannot believe he's almost two and a half, I really can't.

2. The Sun -
Okay so we've not had much of it but the sun that we have had so far this year we've loved. Every moment that elusive sun pops through the clouds Noah and I are outside in the garden, sun cream, and sun hats on, splashing about in the water table. I really hope we will get some more sun soon so we can dig out the paddling pool and have little BBQ's.

3. Slimming World -

I joined Slimming World for the third time back in January and as they say, third times a charm! I've felt so different about it this time around and have felt so motivated. I've stuck at it, worked hard and so far I've lost 26lb! I still have another stone to lose and then I'm back to target and my target weight is actually lower than before I was pregnant. It will be quite an achievement once I get there! Also may I add that big burger above it's Slimming World friendly!

4. Galaxy Quick Reads -
I was recently sent two books to read from the newest Galaxy Quick Reads collection. Those books were A Baby at the Beach Cafe by Lucy Diamond and Anniversary by Veronica Henry. I've always been a big reader but ever since becoming a Mum I have struggled t find the time for it. This is what makes Galaxy Quick Reads ideal for me as each book is around 100 pages long and enables me to get in a quick fix when I do have the time. The books cost just £1 each too!

5.
Grey's Anatomy -
Can you believe that I had never watched Grey's before? One of my all time guilty pleasures is American TV and there's nothing like curling up on the sofa in the evening with a hot chocolate and binge watching some good TV. I only started Grey's Anatomy a few weeks ago and I'm already on season 6! I'm well and truly addicted!

6.
Beanies Coffee -
Coffee, like the American TV shows, is another indulgence of mine and I had wanted to try Beanies Coffee for a long time. I was recently sent the My Beanies Stash Box to try out and I literally couldn't wait to get inside that box. 9 different flavoured coffees awaited my consumption and I didn't know which flavour to go for first. I've tried a few flavours so far and my favourites have got to be Double Chocolate and Nutty Hazelnut. You can buy the stash box on the website for £22.50 with free delivery.

7. Star Wars -

Okay, so this is more what Noah has been loving lately. I think he's the world's youngest Star Wars fan as he asks to watch it all the time! Star Wars: Episode V11 - The Force Awakens is now available on DVD and the first teaser trailer for the spin-off movie Rouge One has just been released.

8. Potty Training -
You must think I've gone mad saying that I love potty training, but I haven't gone mad, I promise. Noah turns two and a half in a week's time and has been doing so well with potty training. I recently wrote about our potty training and shared a few tips which I hope can help anyone who is currently struggling out there or are about to start their potty training journey.

9. Me time -
Now I don't get this very often but recently I've made more of an effort to make sure I get a little bit of time to myself every week. Whether it's sitting down and binge-watching Grey's Anatomy or painting my nails with my new OPI mini set, it's been great to have a little bit of me-time now and again.

10. Working out -
Okay who am I and what have you done with Jenna? This is a bit of a revelation to me but lately I've loved exercising and working out. As well as joining Slimming World this year I've also been working on my fitness and I love it. I can see a difference not only in my body but it also makes me feel better in myself once I've done a work out. I'm often found on my exercise bike, walking, doing step, yoga or Zumba! The new and improved me!
